Little City - West Essex

We are kicking off our June sessions tomorrow in Cranham! ☀️

Little one starting school in August or September?

Did you know…. while building towers, walls and working out “how can we make this stronger?” children are naturally developing early maths skills including shape, size, measuring and counting. (And they can do all this and more at Little City!)

Our dedicated Construction area also supports:
- Language and social skills through teamwork and discussion
- Fine motor skills through using tools and building pieces
- Gross motor skills through carrying and building with bricks, using a wheelbarrow and driving the digger
- Independence skills that support everyday tasks like dressing themselves

We’ve seen so many brilliant scenarios in this area - but a favourite has to be building homes for animals from the vets. Active play, creativity, communication and practical problem solving at its best!

What can you do at home? 🧱
- Build with blocks, boxes or cushions
- Encourage problem solving questions like “how could we make it stronger?”
- Play together and talk through ideas as you build

William Davies Primary School 🏫

I had a fab day today at William Davies Primary School! ✨

I welcomed Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 into the City and they all played beautifully! ♥️

It was so wonderful to watch the Y1 & Y2 children immerse themselves in the City and learn through play.

📚 One of them read me a story in the school bay as they role played the teacher
🧱 Some others helped build me a house and made me sit inside it to make sure it was big enough!
💅 I even had a full makeover for the party I was apparently going to!

Children thrive through play and this includes in KS1 too!

There was even a session for the toddler siblings of the children at the school - what a wonderful day organised by their PTA team!

Marvellous May ☀️🌳

I took some time off in May to reset after such a busy first few months of the year! We still managed lots of Little City fun though with some great special events!

♥️ Lots of time spent with family and friends
☀️ Memories made outside and in the sunshine
🏫 I had a full day at one lucky school
📚 and another private hire for a preschool
🍎 Our Little Primary School bay is BACK
🎈 Celebrated Mum’s 60th (just one more celebration to go 😂♥️)
🦸🏻 The City was taken over by superheroes
🕷️ …and we had a great special with our web slinging hero!
🐑 and finished off the month with a fabulous collaboration with Wellgate Farm!

Now, it’s time to get back into the swing of it with 12 school hires coming up over June and July, some parties and our PAYG events too!

🐷 Come enjoy four bays of Little City PLUS our farm area!
🐑 You’ll get a hands on animal encounter with the sheep where the staff at Wellgate Community Farm will be on hand to talk about and help you feed the sheep!
🌳 We will also have a story telling session which includes a forest school activity!
🦙And you can also walk round the farm at your own pace to enjoy looking at the rest of the animals at the farm!
🚜 Lots of free flow play and learning opportunities!
