Blessings for Beltane - The hawthorn is in spectacular blossom right now and a tree to be with and smell the heady scents.. . They are herbal healers for us for their effect on the heart and calming nervous conditions such as tension and anxiety. In folk legends they are trees of enchantment and talk of the faerie folk who fetch you if you sleep beneath them! Amazing for wildlife- the birds love them as protection. Leaves and blossom good to nibble on or make a tea.

BLACKTHORN in blossom..
Lovely to read about in Glennie Kindred’s” book - “Walking with Trees, her description of its energy and meaning feels very relevant now..
they are very communal trees that, grow close together creating protective barrier... “thickets of small trunks create a powerful message to help us recognise the power of community and standing together to protect wildlife”
Their thorns have a poison are can be harmful to humans .. Blackthorns “challenge us to stop and go no further...gives us time to notice and recognise what is a barrier to us, provides protection to many small mammals and birds.” “They stop me in my tracks and take notice of the natural world around me .. they are great teachers and help us see they there is always more than one way of looking at a situation, and look for positive interpretations... help us to step out from our egocentric perspective and step into a more Earth-aware future. .. they are our allies in these challenging times”.

Our second seasonal Sunday exploring the magic of trees is coming up, Sunday 15th September. Who's gonna join us!

This time we will connect in with the time of fruitfulness and harvests, discovering all the different nourishing foods, and medicines, that the trees around us can offer. Through their living and being, through the cycle of the year, we can live in amazing communion together. Hackney Tree Nursery illuminates this in its richness of canopy and forest garden layers, the abundance of fruits, nuts and creatures growing there and the knowledge and love amongst the humans that participate there.

Here's some pics from our first day of the series back in July, to whet your appetite, and go to the event page below to find out the day's programme on 15 Sept - including forest garden intro, apple juicing, tree medicine and more!

All proceeds will go to cover costs of facilitators and teachers, and to support the Tree Nursery which is unfunded and run by the love and energy of volunteers to bring ecosystems balance and share the passion of the wild world.
