We’re delighted that the planning application for Barking Energy Centre and associated Visitor Centre has been approved. Working with B & D ENERGY LIMITED, and we have sought to design a bold expression of ambition to be the ‘Green Capital of the Capital’. The dedicated Visitor’s Centre provides a place for the public to come and learn about how Decentralised Energy Networks help reduce carbon and how this contributes towards a greener future.​​​​​​​​

The Energy Centre will initially house two CHP generators to provide hot water and power across a decentralised grid for over 10,000 homes from 2023. This is a greatly more efficient way to produce energy than traditional power plants and will save an estimated 12,000 tonnes of carbon a year. From 2025 additional low-carbon equipment will be installed to further reduce the carbon footprint and move towards a fully decarbonised network​​​​​​​​
