WATCH: 50 years of compassion, courage, and service

Vienna- The pioneering Filipino nurses who arrived in Austria in 1976 celebrated their Golden Anniversary on May 16, 2026 at the Vienna Marriott Hotel, honoring five decades of dedication to Austria’s healthcare system and community life.

Leaders from Austria and the Philippines paid tribute to the nurses’ invaluable contribution, professionalism, and humanity. Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig described them as “pillars of our community,” while Philippine Ambassador Evangelina Lourdes A. Bernas praised them for shaping a positive image of Filipinos in Austria through excellence and compassion.

The celebration also highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines through music and traditional dances, including the iconic Tinikling.

A golden milestone celebrating not only a profession, but a lifetime of service, sacrifice, and friendship between the Philippines and Austria. 🇵🇭🇦🇹,

Meet the First Filipina Nessarose in the West End production Wicked

London - From the audience to the stage, Yara Fabricante made a historic West End debut recently. Talk about a full-circle moment! At just 22 years old, Filipina musical theatre performer Yara Fabricante has officially joined the 20th Anniversary West End company of Wicked as Nessarose. For Fabricante, taking the stage at the Apollo Victoria Theatre is deeply personal. Exactly ten years ago, it was the very first West End show she ever watched from the audience.

"The first musical I saw was Wicked with my family. Ten years later, I’ll be on the same stage playing Nessarose,’” said the first Filipinas Nessarose in the West End production of Wicked
Now, she’s making history and shining a spotlight on Filipino representation on one of the world's biggest stages.
