Thank you to Ed Davey and Marie Goldman for sending this letter about the draft EHRC Code of Practice. We fully agree that it needs to be withdrawn, and that women's rights and trans rights are not in conflict. 🧡🏳️‍⚧️

The EHRC's Code of Practice has been approved by the Minister of State and laid before Parliament.

We hear and share the community's shock and alarm at the proposals.

As an organisation, we are currently working through the document and are collating our thoughts, to liaise with Party leadership and spokespeople next week. Please bear with us as we do this.

Nothing in this Code of Practice changes our unfailing and immutable commitment to equality for trans people and our firm belief that the law must change accordingly. We will continue to push for greater action both within and outwith our Party.

Today, when these things are rising if you've experienced this, we hear you and we feel you. Most of us have too and just know, if you're struggling you are not alone, please reach out to someone. Our rights should never be taken for granted. 🏳️‍⚧️​🏳️‍🌈

The antisemitic attack in Golders Green yesterday and the arson of Pink Punters 4 days ago reflects a growing trend of hate crimes across the UK. We, as a society, need to do more to address the growing culture of hate so that crimes like this do not happen. LGBT+ LibDems stand with all those impacted and condemn homophobia, antisemitism, and hatred of any kind. 🧡

Thanks to Councillor Chris Northwood - Liberal Democrats and Ed Davey for this. It's been a hard year, and we have work to do. But we're in the fight, and we're proud that the Liberal Democrats are in it with us. Trans rights are human rights. 🧡🏳️‍⚧️

Thank you to for her speech yesterday in the Commons. The dignity and rights of trans people must be ensured in this guidance, and she is right when she says that trans rights and women’s rights are not an will never be competing objectives.

It's Trans Day of Visibility and it's time to update the equality act. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️
