Our gardening volunteer group were hard at work in the sunshine yesterday! Big thanks for all their help maintaining the youth plot area, cutting back overgrown plants, weeding and watering. Plus the weekly pot cleaning!

Our beautiful Buddleja globosa (or orange-ball tree) is in bloom and proving a bee magnet! So many honey bees, but also lots of our wild bees busy collecting nectar.

We’re very proud to be part of the London City Farm Yarn project! Today we welcomed volunteer wool-mules who carried fleeces from Kentish Town City Farm, Horniman Museum, Vauxhall City Farm, Battersea Park Farm and Crystal Palace Farm to fill up our horsebox. We’ll drop these London fleeces (and our own) off at Woodlands Farm, ready to be sorted and then sent off on their journey to Yorkshire where they’ll be processed and then spun into city farm yarn.
Interested in this story? Visit for more information, photos and videos about the project. Pop into our farm shop to pick up a leaflet and purchase a skein of this very special wool! Or buy a ticket to the ‘Sheep, Actually’ immersive experience on May 28th to learn more about all things sheep and wool!

Some of our lettuce pots had been attacked by aphids… but nothing gets wasted here! Chickens are omnivores and love gobbling down all sorts of minibeasts, along with their leafy greens.

We’re hosting an immersive evening experience, where you’ll get a tour of the Farm and the chance to get up close with the sheep, before watching the film and a meet and mingle with the two-legged stars after. Join us for a wonderful evening celebrating all things woolly!

The greenhouse is filling up with our students’ tomato plants! Over the last couple of weeks the New Leaf students have re-potted tomato plants (that they grew from seed) into pots filled with our manure and our own compost. It’s always incredible to see how quickly the little plants grow, to fill the space and start producing delicious fruits!
