At the last election, only half of overseas postal ballots made it back in time to be counted. So they can’t vote for a government that might fix it either.

The Lib Dems have tabled an amendment to the Representation of the People Bill that would finally fix overseas voting so that ballots actually reach people in time to count.

Happy Europe Day!

Today is a day to celebrate the peace and unity that so much of Europe has enjoyed over the past 76 years thanks to the Council of Europe and European Union. Britain is, and always will be European.

Here at the Young Liberals we're proud that earlier this year the UK's Erasmus+ membership was finally confirmed, giving millions of young Britons access to billions in educational, cultural and sporting opportunities.

But this has to be only the beginning, Britain belongs in the EU and we won't stop fighting for your European future 🇪🇺 🇬🇧

UK pensioner: £9,615 a year.
British pensioner in Australia: £4,381. Frozen.

They could vote in a Government that promises to fix it. Except at the last election, only 6% of postal ballots from Australia got back in time to be counted.

You can't fix what you can't vote on.

We urgently need your help. Please write to your MP and ask them to support amendment NC19 to the Representation of the People Bill to compel the Government to review voting from abroad.

People across the country are turning to the Liberal Democrats as the only party that can stop Reform and elect strong local community champions.

Only 48% of overseas postal ballots were returned in time at the last General Election. Half our postal votes in the bin.

The Government's response? Start distributing ballots 3 days earlier.

That's no fix. That's a shrug.

We recently gave evidence to the Commons committee reviewing the new elections law, but none of the amendments tabled by Liberal Democrat MPs were accepted. Amendments designed to make meaningful improvements in voting from abroad.
