Today was the Scots Guards’ Black Sunday, the regiment’s own remembrance day where those who paid the ultimate sacrifice are commemorated by serving and ex-members of the regiment.
The band played for the church service at the Guards Chapel and shortly after marched at the front of the regiment combined with the 1st Battalion Pipes and Drums down to the Guards Memorial, at Horse Guards Parade. A short act of remembrance including wreath laying, last post, piper’s lament, minute’s silence and reveille was observed.

Members of the Band of the Scots Guards walked the Camino de Santiago – The English way.
With Sgt Needham organising the trip, Sgt Devery, Sgt Dann, LCpl Milum, LCpl Mackenzie, Musn Farrar, and Musn Lewis embarked on an unforgettable adventure.
Starting from the naval port city of Ferrol in the northern region of Galicia; musicians walked 111km of undulating terrain over 5 days to Santiago de Compostela, the resting place of St James the Apostle.
Pilgrims have ventured across many countries, since the 10th century, to visit the tomb of St James. As well as the Christian benefits to the Camino, the team were challenged physically and mentally throughout their journey. The enhanced team cohesion and opportunity to be a part of this expedition is just one of the many opportunities that life as an Army Musician presents.
The team took the opportunity to raise funds for both AGC and RCAM Corps trusts. Please donate to the charity which looks after the welfare and benevolence of its serving and retired members.

Three musicians from the Band, Musician McPherson, Cowling, and Rose set off on an unforgettable alpine skiing adventure "Exercise Allegro Snow", in the Italian resort of Sauze d'Oulx.
Over the course of the week, they pushed their limits, both mentally and physically, as they navigated the slopes and embraced the challenges of the sport, learning how to ski under the supervision of military instructors.
Musician Rose earned the title of “Most Improved Novice” for his progress on the slopes, a display of perseverance and determination. The trio not only experienced the thrill of skiing but also earned their Ski Foundation Level 1 qualification, a significant achievement.
Skiing is just one of many sports that the British Army facilitates in the form of Adventurous Training.

The recent Burns Night concert by the Band of The Scots Guards at The Guards Chapel was a great way to finish our first musical training week of 2026. Under the baton of Bandmaster WO2 Dullea, the Band delivered an outstanding performance, showcasing a variety of Scottish-themed pieces.
Among the highlights of the evening were Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3 and Bantok's Scenes from the Scottish Highlands, both expertly arranged by LCpl Lyttle. The band also performed Ye Banks and Braes O' Bonny Doon, accompanied by LCpl Adams reciting Burns’ poem of the same name, followed by Hymn of the Highlands by Sparke, all adding to a rich tapestry of Scottish musical traditions.
Another standout feature was the trombone solo Bluebells of Scotland, skillfully performed by LSgt Findlay, whose technical brilliance and musicality were on full display, accompanied by the band.
This concert also marked a milestone for two members of the band. The Long Service and Good Conduct Medals were proudly awarded to LSgt Blackett and LSgt Parkin by the Commanding Officer Lt Col. Halliday in recognition of their 15 years of exemplary service.
A sincere thank you to all who attended and made this event such a memorable evening.
