Today is , a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, & political achievements of women, and reflect on how much further we still need to go.
Our ongoing commitment to gender equality continues and is a key part of what makes us Lib Dems.

Haringey’s Liberal Democrat group is planning a radical shake-up of power if it wins control of the council following the May election.
The borough's biggest opposition group wants to change the way the council is governed from a cabinet system to a committee system, devolve power to residents and make it easier for people to access council services.
The Liberal Democrats also plan to invest more in environmental measures and youth services, build a wider range of housing, and scrap a costly revamp of Haringey Civic Centre in Wood Green that it has dubbed a “vanity project”.

Labour has the wrong priorities.
During a cost-of-living crisis, Haringey should not be splashing £54 million on new offices for itself.
Haringey Liberal Democrats are clear: STOP the £54 million vanity project and invest in our cash-strapped children's services, mental health provision, and interventions to stop our youth being sucked into the spiral of violent crime.
That is how you build a fairer Haringey.

Female Lib Dem Cllrs have written a piece on women's safety in the
Ham & High
"Women don’t want to feel lucky; we have a right to feel safe."
This happens to each generation of women - and nothing ever changes
As female politicians we can be on the receiving end of abuse and harassment. Following the terrible murder of the Labour MP, Jo Cox, in 2016.

Extremely powerful speeches at Haringey’s council meeting last night from female councillors talking about their experiences of harassment.
The cross-party motion, proposed by Cllr Dawn Barnes, asks the Home Secretary to make Street Harassment a specific crime, and was passed unanimously by Labour and Lib Dem councillors.
