The Socialist Party is like no other political party in Britain. We are solely concerned with building a movement of socialists for socialism.

The Socialist Party is made up of people who have joined together to get rid of the profit system and establish real socialism based upon the common ownership and democratic control of the means and instruments for producing wealth. It is made up of people who have joined together because we want to get rid of the profit system and establish real socialism. Our aim is to persuade others to become

What would our party, and other parties in the World Socialist Movement, give voters after capitalism has been ended and replaced? Nothing. Socialist parties like ours don’t exist to govern. We exist to advocate the class-free socialist alternative and allow people to vote for it. When socialism does replace capitalism, meaning the people as a whole then have democratic control over what happens in society, our party would shut down and disband.

Other parties that want to govern the people, and capitalism, and promise the working class majority better lives, are deceivers. Capitalism cannot be reformed and governed by any party so the majority benefit. Capitalism exists to benefit the capitalist class. If a government interferes and diverts profits from the asset-owning rich to the majority in need, then the economy can collapse. This is why electorates globally keep changing governments, and why parties keep changing leaders.

Pro-capitalism parties keep on failing to deliver what the people require because the needs of the asset-owning class must be prioritised. If there was a way for a party to make capitalism benefit and gratify the majority, then that government would keep being re-elected and remain in power for decades. That doesn’t happen because it can’t happen.

The class-free, state-free, money-free socialism that we advocate is the only way a society can get what it requires because that society will then directly own and control the means of producing what it needs. Capitalism is for capitalists. Socialism is for providing what people need.

Keirdy Starnham. Two political peas in a pod. Makes absolutely no difference to the working class majority which one is Labour leader because both want exactly the same thing — a continuation of outdated capitalism where business profits unavoidably come before people’s needs.

Keir Starmer just made a speech following local elections in which Labour lost a huge number of Councillors. He repeatedly mentioned getting away from the “status quo” because it isn’t working. What he failed to do is mention why the current way of doing things is failing the working class — the status quo is the capitalist way of doing things! That’s why nothing is going to radically improve under Labour. It’s why nothing would radically improve with Farage or Polanski in Downing Street either. As we have always said, changing governments which maintain a profits-before-people capitalist system changes nothing. It is “incremental” reforms to capitalism that aren’t working. For the status quo’s same old problems to be eradicated for good, capitalism must be eradicated for good.

On May 7th (tomorrow), three Socialist Party (GB) candidates are standing in the London Borough of Lambeth local elections. They are Anya Krycek in BRIXTON NORTH WARD; Jacqueline Shodeke in CLAPHAM COMMON & ABBEVILLE WARD, and César Ramon Sotillo in STOCKWELL WEST & LARKHALL WARD. The local news site, Brixton Buzz, has an article about our candidates and what they stand for here https://www.brixtonbuzz.com/2026/05/meet-the-candidates-socialist-party-of-great-britain-abolishing-capitalism-since-1904/

What happens in a Marxist free-access socialist society with peach production? Farmers grow them and they are distributed to people.

What happens under capitalism when a business canning peaches goes bankrupt? Farmers get paid millions of dollars to destroy 420,000 peach trees. Capitalism is destructive, inefficient and dumb.

By violence and theft, valuable land has been acquired around the world, leaving small percentages of country’s populations owning vast amounts of territory. Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, 6th Duke of Westminster whose assets are now worth £10bn, once mocked the working class when asked what advice he had for young entrepreneurs. He said “Make sure they have an ancestor who was a very close friend of William the Conqueror”. Immensely rich landowners would only come out with such a piss-take if they felt their unjust ownership could not be overturned. It should be. Wipe the smiles off billionaires’ faces by putting an end to this injustice. Their ownership is not legal since property laws were made through slaughter, threats and thievery. End capitalism, begin real socialism, and let’s have a society with collective ownership of land and its use to benefit all — not just a tiny few.

Chip shops sell cheap catfish as 'traditional fish and chips' 01/05/2026

With capitalism, you have an economy where profits unavoidably come before the needs of people. That’s why you may think you’re getting cod or haddock at a fish & chips shop, when in reality you’re getting catfish. The reason being catfish costs about £3.40 per kilo wholesale, while cod and haddock typically go for £15 per kilo.

Chip shops sell cheap catfish as 'traditional fish and chips' A BBC investigation finds chip shop owners passing off cheaper species as "traditional fish and chips".
