Light-filled kitchen extension and habitable garage rebuild to allow this lovely family to live together across the generations.

Grosvenor Road N10 25/06/2019

Egg Architecture was asked to create more space for a young family in north London. The house is in a Conservation Area, and early engagement with the local Planning Department was positive, gaining approval for a modern, clean-lined extension.
Solar-control glazing and opening rooflights allow daylight deep into the house without risk of overheating. Timber detailing adds visual warmth to the cool white render.
Internally, a large kitchen diner is created with a ‘snug’ seating area, plus a separate utility room and toilet. The new arrangement allows plenty of space for family gatherings and parties, plus separation for those times when a family member needs a little peace and quiet.

A few shots of a nearly-completed extension to a '60s terraced house in East Finchley. Not straying from the original house design too much, just some larger glazing and an "experimental" rendered fascia that turned out well.

Hugely enjoyed last night, 73 Avenue Road announced as the Winner of Best Extension or Alteration to an Existing Home London 2018 at the LABC Building Excellence Awards!
