“No comms, no bombs”

Today is World Radio Day. Despite being invented in 1890 and advancements such as the internet, radio remains a vital form of communication in both the civilian and military world.

During tours of Iraq and Afghanistan, troops also relied heavily on for both news and entertainment while working remotely in hostile environments. Likewise, radio communication with neighbouring patrol bases was an essential lifeline.

Regardless of trade or specialism, all Honourable Artillery Company soldiers finish Phase 2 with the RA Basic Signaller qualification, making them experienced with wide variety of radio communication systems.

Precision Marksmanship: HAC Soldiers at Bisley 🎯

Through the HAC’s Rifle Club, our soldiers are taking their skills to the next level. This weekend featured a Precision Rifle Shooting Skills course run by the NRA of the UK with instruction from the GB Precision Rifle Association team.

The Challenge: Engaging 15-50cm steel plates from 300m to 642m using the Accuracy International ATXC 7.62 and Howa platforms. A massive opportunity to master ballistics and stable firing positions.

Upskilling: Attendance was part-funded via Standard Learning Credits, supporting the professional development of our Regular and Reserve Forces.

Grateful for the support from , and expert coaching from and Jon Binder-Swash.
