Following a group photo, students explored “Visit Europe in One Day” — discovering cultures, languages and traditions across Europe through interactive stands hosted by Member States at Sinfonia Smith Square.

What happens when you bring together EU and UK parliamentarians, a defence expert and a senior UK diplomat in one room? A rich discussion on how the UK and the EU can deepen cooperation on security and defence.
Tonight’s inaugural ‘Parliaments in dialogue’ event at brought Westminster and Brussels together for a timely exchange on shared challenges, strategic ambitions and practical cooperation.
In discussion, , co-chair of the EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly, , Chair of the Business and Trade Committee, Lord Peter Ricketts GCMG GCVO and Professor Jamie Gaskarth reflected on the importance of closer dialogue at parliamentary level.
As Sandro Gozi said: “In the volatile security situation in Europe, not only governments must cooperate but also parliaments, not least as parliamentarians can anchor the difficult decisions with ordinary people.”
If you missed it, watch this space — this was only the first in a new series of discussions, with more timely conversations bringing MEPs and UK counterparts together to come.
