Today the Church celebrates the Visit of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Elizabeth, transferred from 31st May.

This hand-coloured woodcut depicting this moment is from a 15th century Book of Hours.

Today is Trinity Sunday.

This wonderful hand-coloured woodcut of the Trinity comes from Horae ad usum Rothmagensem (Book of Hours for the use of Rouen).

It was printed in Paris in 1498.

This marginal scene, featuring a fox, a cat, a cockerel, and an elephant, appears at the opening of the first prologue of Jerome.

Today the church celebrates Augustine, missionary to Kent and first Archbishop of Canterbury, who died on this day in 604 AD.

This frontispiece shows Augustine bringing the Gospel to King Æthelberht of Kent in 597, with an anachronistic Canterbury Cathedral in the background.

Today the Church celebrates Venerable Bede, monk at Jarrow, scholar & historian, who died in 735.

Pictured here, Bede's work on chronology is entitled De temporibus and was printed in Venice in 1509.
