Great creativity at Grasmere today! ☀️🫖

With the weather being so warm, we decided to keep things calm and relaxed indoors — and what a lovely afternoon it turned into.

The residents were shown the printed versions of their recent poems, beautifully illustrated with the help of ChatGPT, and everyone really enjoyed reading them again and sharing memories of creating them together.

Feeling inspired in the moment, the group decided to write another poem — this time, an ode to a cup of tea! ☕
It was wonderful to see everyone contributing ideas, lines, rhymes, and laughter as the poem slowly came together.

Moments like this remind us that creativity has no age limit, and that amazing things can happen when people work together and put their minds to something.

After the success of last week’s poem, we thought… could we do it again? ☀️✍️

Amazingly, our residents created not one, but TWO new poems together this morning! We wrote a lovely gentle poem about the summer sun, followed by a fun little limerick about a lady called Jane that had everyone smiling and laughing along. 😊

It has been wonderful watching the creativity, humour, and imagination of our residents shine through each week. The poetry sessions are quickly becoming a favourite part of our activities programme — and at this rate, we may end up creating our very own Grasmere poetry book! 📖✨

Who knows… perhaps we have some hidden poets among us after all. ❤️

Today it’s been another wonderfully social afternoon at Grasmere as we welcomed our lovely friends from Christchurch Sutton for their monthly Communion service. ❤️

It was wonderful to see Sheila, Denise and Carol again, and as always the residents really enjoyed the service, the friendly atmosphere and the chats afterwards over tea.

The lounge was full of conversation, smiles and laughter, and it was lovely to see residents spending time together and enjoying such positive social interaction.

A big thank you to Christchurch Sutton for their kindness, warmth and continued friendship. We’re already looking forward to seeing you all again next month. ☕✨

What a wonderful afternoon here at Grasmere! 🌟

Today we were joined by the vibrant and joyful group from Hope Church for a lovely social afternoon with our residents. The group warmly greeted everyone, filled the lounge with smiles, and sang uplifting songs including Getting to Know You 🎶😊

Before long, the whole lounge was buzzing with conversation, laughter, singing, and friendship. It was truly heartwarming to see so many residents enjoying the company and positive energy around them.

The popularity of Grasmere with our friends at Hope Church seems to be growing too — this was their biggest group yet! 💛 We are already looking forward to welcoming them back again very soon.

Thank you, Hope Church, for bringing such kindness, warmth, and community spirit to our home.

Today our residents showed their artistic side once again as we continued preparing for next week’s Australia Day celebrations at Grasmere Care Home. 🇦🇺🎨

Using colouring pencils, watercolours and even felt tips, residents created some wonderfully colourful artwork inspired by Australia’s famous places, landscapes and animals. To make the activity enjoyable and accessible for everyone, residents could choose between smaller pictures or larger designs depending on what felt comfortable for them.

The lounge was full of creativity, conversation and colour throughout the afternoon, and the results speak for themselves! 🌏🦘🎨

Today’s morning activity was only supposed to be a simple warm-up game… but our residents had other ideas and fully embraced their creative sides! ✍️🐱

What started as a serious poetry session quickly descended into complete hilarity as the group created a brand new poem together. Somewhere along the way, somebody introduced the idea of a cat with a gun demanding fish & chips… and from that moment on, the room was filled with laughter! 😂

The creativity, imagination, and humour on display this morning were absolutely wonderful to see. This is now the FOURTH poem our residents have created together, and we’re planning to collect and display them for everyone to enjoy.

What a wonderfully creative bunch they are at Grasmere! ❤️
