The June edition of Valuer takes a look at licensed property valuation evidence, method and a return to first principles, but has ‘Last orders please!’ already been called?. International Perspective looks at Valuation practice in a changing global landscape, whilst the RICS Rating Diploma Section considers Rebus Sic Stantibus to cut through the decades of case law to clarify what alteration rebus actually allows. ‘Rating versus the market’ looks at whether valuers are missing a trick. The Renters’ Rights Act is explained, covering what valuers need to know, and there’s an analysis of the Orton judgment and its wider implications for historic tribunal decisions and statutory interpretation in local taxation. ‘Alerts’ carries the latest updates in the world of Real Estate, whilst the approach to repurposing of empty space to transform the use of empty buildings in Scotland looks at how partnerships between landlords and charities are turning dormant space into cultural hubs and providing a catalyst for regeneration. https://zurl.co/ZxgGw

The latest edition of IRRV Insight leads with a review of managing risk in property taxation. Other topical content includes recovering debt from deceased estates. Social Security Scotland identifies the support available for carers, whilst Credit Notes provides a two-page feature on the Timms Review of PIP. AI is highlighted with warnings about the use of AI tools that risk privilege, create the potential for ethical breaches and the prospect of regulatory action. Technology, though, should be embraced as Insight to Innovation considers how AI coding tools can reshape software delivery to market advantage. AI can also replace the frustration of menus to deliver smarter conversations.

We also highlight how DWP is providing clearer, more useful information through the sharing of Universal Credit data. Of course, there are also updates from across the IRRV covering news, people, events and valuation matters.
