Just So Flowers

Two years today! Happy 2nd anniversary to us 😊❤️

I waited a very long time to get married, 63 years in fact, so this really was a very special day. I cried so much during the ceremony that I thought I was never going to complete my vows, the registrar kept handing me tissues and David wasn't sure what to do but eventually I managed to get the words out, all was fine and we had a beautiful day that we will treasure forever 😊❤️

This heatwave has reminded me of a beautiful but challenging wedding that we did last July for the lovely Carmella and James at Dulwich College.

It was the hottest day of the year - the hottest week - and we had a lot of flowers to keep fresh and perky. The hardest part was working on site. Adding finishing touches to table arrangements, re-working and moving flowers from the chapel to the dining room which was of course up a huge flight of stairs - there was only a small, li
temperamental lift - but we did our job, we employed all of our skills and experience, and everyone was happy with the end result. We were all drenched in sweat for most of the day but it was worth it to make this bride and her family so happy and to get the amazing feedback that she gave us.

That experience and those skills come at a price so that's why wedding flowers are expensive because you're not just paying for flowers 🌸

Happy 100th birthday to Sir David Attenborough! What an incredible man and what an incredible life he has shared with us. Thank you for all of the wonderful documentaries, for showing us nature and the planet in all its glory with such honesty and such modesty. 💚

Back to work today. I just had an entire bank holiday weekend off which is very unusual for me, but I'm not complaining. The sun shone, I did some gardening, went out with my husband and visited friends and family. Perfect! 🌸

We didn't do anything fancy, just took it easy. No rushing around, no checking the phone every five minutes. It's so important to take time out every now and then, to look after yourself, gather your thoughts and recharge. Of course my recharging will always involve flowers. I can't help it, they are just so good for the soul!😊🌸

Back to work now though and looking forward to attending a networking session with prepping for my next workshop and finishing some website updates that I didn't get done last week 🤔 🌸

Like many small businesses I have to offer more services than those in which I specialize. This is because I don't have a wedding to do every weekend, nor do I have a workshop to run every week. It just doesn't work like that so I also offer a small selection of farewell flowers.🌸

I don't do weird or humourous novelty tributes. There are plenty of florists who do, and who do them very well, but no I won't even attempt a BMX bike or a can of Coke - I have been asked to make both in the past.🌸

What I will do is make a beautiful coffin spray, or wreath, or posy pad. I will use the best quality flowers, I will take my time and I will make it with love and care.🌸
