Reasons why you should vote for the Liberal Democrats on 7th May

In the Summer of 2025, we set up a survey which has been distributed to over 6,000 residents across Barnet.

We have used the feedback to tailor the priorities we are standing for which are:

• Tackling crime and helping people to feel safe in their neighbourhood by campaigning for more community police officers and fighting cuts to the Safer Neighbourhood Teams.

• Fighting fly-tipping and litter by streamlining and monitoring the ways to report antisocial behaviour in Barnet.

• Addressing issues with traffic management by insisting on transparency on parking fines and speed restrictions.

• Campaigning to reduce utility bills, petitioning the government to do more to help families struggling with the Cost of Living.

Barnet Liberal Democrats condemn the antisemitic attacks on our community in Golders Green. The Barnet Liberal Democrats stand with our community in condemning last night’s despicable attacks on the Jewish Community Ambulances in Golders Green.

As Liberal Democrats - we've long been fighting to improve online safety. Previously, we've voted to ban addictive algorithms for under 16s, voted to ban phones in schools, and called for health warnings on social media.

More recently, we've voted for measures to ban harmful social media for under 16s. Our harms-based approach to backed by 42 charities and experts calling for film-style age ratings for social media platforms.

We've also been pushing the government to take action after they launched a consultation. Finally, more than a month after launching it, we have details of the consultation.

Please take a few minutes to fill out the consultation. Whether you're a parent, a young person, or simply someone who cares - your response could shape the protections that keep our children safe.

🎉🏆 Such a privilege to win the Patchwork Foundation's 'Other MP of The Year Award' last night (for an MP outside the two largest parties).

I’ve spent two decades improving diversity in my own party whilst fighting for the rights of women and under-represented groups in parliament too.

Politics is for everyone, and it's absolutely vital that the voices of people from all backgrounds and communities are represented in our public and political debate.

The foundation does incredible work supporting young people from under-represented groups to get involved in politics, so it’s a real honour to have had my efforts in this area recognised.

Donald Trump has made it his explicit policy to interfere in European politics and ‘cultivate resistance’ in the UK and elsewhere.

The government should include the US administration in the scope of its investigation.

Today MPs voted to pass our bill to establish a UK-EU customs union. 👏🇪🇺🇬🇧

The Prime Minister must now listen to Parliament, drop his self-imposed red lines, & finally go for proper growth.

We Liberal Democrats know a bespoke EU-UK customs union would be the most effective way of doing that.
