Happy Pride Month!!
Inclusion isn’t just a goal; it’s our practice. This month, and every month, we lead with empathy, inclusion, and unwavering advocacy for every child, young adult, and family to be exactly and unapologetically who they were born to be. 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ ⚧️

What’s the difference between surviving and thriving?
It’s trauma informed care.
It’s certified child life specialists.
It’s registered health play specialists.
It’s multidisciplinary collaboration.
It’s medical play. Therapeutic play.
It’s timing, it’s pacing. It’s age appropriate.
It’s preparing, teaching, showing, exploring, playing, control, answering questions, practising, rehearsing, and then doing it all over again and again until mastery, understanding, and healthy coping are unlocked.
Just those things ✨

Dissociation in paediatric healthcare isn’t ’normal,’ but it is a real response to overwhelming stress. If you feel your child is ‘checking out’ during care, you are their most important advocate.
Ask your medical team to document your observations. Request a consultation with paeds psychology or a health play specialist to create a trauma-informed coping plan that prioritises their psychological safety.
We are also here to help.
