I was thrilled to join our City & Guilds Industry Manager Oliver Stephenson to attend an Afternoon Tea, hosted by Hun MP on behalf of The Hairdressing Council, in the Thames Pavillion, House of Commons, UK Parliament, Westminster yesterday afternoon 🤩
This event celebrated and highlighted the importance of hairdressing to the UK economy and society to MP’s and peers as well as the wider public.

👂 We listened to what you needed, and we are actively developing a quick, focused qualification with small guided learning hours, making it the perfect enrichment opportunity or CPD for learners, teaching and assessment staff, employers, and anyone committed to enhancing a culture of wellbeing.

📔 With Ofsted’s latest updates bringing a renewed focus on mental health and wellbeing in education, these crucial elements are now actively considered during inspections. The renewed framework and new processes and guidance aim to ensure mental health is a top priority for all education providers.

✅This new qualification aligns perfectly with the future proposed changes, offering a clear, structured pathway to track and evidence the support provided for both staff and student wellbeing and personal development. Not only does it help meet Ofsted’s evolving expectations, but it also strengthens positive destination rates, enhancing core aim results data.

Such an honour today for the City & Guilds Hair and Beauty team to be invited to the Princess Royal Training Awards (PRTA) 10th Aniversary Skills Share celebration at the beautiful Goldsmiths’ Hall. The objective of the Awards is simple: ‘to reward and celebrate organisations that see the value and wider organisational benefits of investing in learning and development.’
The room was filled with incredible PRTA recipients along with our President HRH Princess Anne.
The events key note speaker and special guest was non other than the inspirational Jane Wurwand, Co-Founder & Chief Visionary of Dermalogica. Jane’s words touched and resonated with everyone in the room. As a PRTA recipient herself, she filled us with pride having such a wonderful skills advocate from the world of hair and beauty open the celebrations.
