Well, here we go again! 💚

Last week, I received my nomination certificate through the post, and I’m absolutely delighted that The Sugar Loaf has been nominated once again for the Small Business Awards 2026!

Last year, we proudly came 2nd place and were Highly Commended, so to be recognised again really does mean so much to me.

As a fully independent free house, running a pub in today’s climate is certainly no easy task. We don’t have the backing or financial support of a brewery or large pub company. It’s hard work, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

But do you know what? I absolutely love it! 💚

I love our pub, I love our community, and I love the people who continue to walk through our doors and support us. None of what we do would be possible without you all.

There’s still so much more I want to achieve, and knowing that people believe in what we’re building makes every long day worthwhile.

Luton Council

The new Council Executive.

Luton Council leader Councillor Amjid Ali has appointed his new Executive team, following his election as Leader of Luton Council at an extraordinary meeting of Full Council earlier this month.

Join us in remembering those who gave their lives in service to our country, and in honouring the veterans and serving personnel who continue to serve our community and nation.

Residents are invited to attend the following Remembrance services in Luton this November.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 | 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟴 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿

🕚 📍 The parade will leave Park Street West at 10.40am, followed by a service at Luton Town Hall at 11am, including wreath-laying at the War Memorial and the two-minute silence.

🕚 📍 Join us on the steps of Luton Town Hall shortly before 11am for the Last Post and the two-minute silence.

Everyone is welcome to attend and pay their respects as we remember all those who have served and sacrificed.
