Make that simple switch! Say no to plastic in the bathroom! Instead of using single use plastic floss picks try floss that doesn't have a plastic case like this one! I found this floss at Sprouts! .

โSince the lockdown: Venice's canals have become crystal clear. Italy coasts have dolphins coming nearer and nearer. Japan now has deer roaming free in the streets, and Thailand: the same with monkeys. China has record breaking pollution cuts. The Earth has already began showing signs of amazing things that are happening from the absence of human pollution. What if- and hear me out..- what if the entire human population used this as an opportunity to restart society on a greener, more environment conscious foot. What we're seeing in the span of a couple of days is amazing. A pipe dream.โ

Around 7 million tonnes of food are thrown away by households in the UK every year. ๐ฑ The average family throws away around ยฃ700 of food per year.
The best thing that can happen to food is that it makes it to our plates and is enjoyed. Trust me, I enjoy my food! ๐However, some food waste is inevitable. (such as egg shells, banana skins, and tea bags)
Luckily my local council collects food waste to be recycled as I donโt have a garden to have my own compost bin (one day, one day).๐
Introducing my cute kitchen compost caddy. ๐ If you recycle your food waste with the council, make sure your caddy has a compostable liner (available from most supermarkets and your local council).
Food waste that can be recycled at home includes:
* Raw or cooked meat and fish, including bones
* Raw or cooked fruit and vegetables
* Leftovers from your plate
* Rice, pasta and beans
* Bread, cakes and pastries
* Dairy including egg shells
* Teabags and coffee grounds
Do you recycle your food waste? โป๏ธ ๐๐ง

Such a devestating photo, really showing the reality of these fires. The fires in Australia are so bad that Brisbane is filled with smoke.
โWe can usually view the city from our place but we literally can't see it through all the smoke. Our air quality is at emergncy level, I've even read that its currently worse quality than Beijing. We then have the countless homes ruined, ecosystem destroyed and lives lost.
It's insane to me that I've hardly seen anything online about this in the sustainability community. So i thought I better share something about it myself! Over 64 fires in NSW and almost 50 in QLD burning RIGHT NOW. This didn't just start, it's been going on for over a week.โ -
How are we not getting the message? How are you all not seeing what is happening?
Enough is enough, we NEED to make a change!
Thoughts and prayers can only do so much, change and a take of action are necessary to our survival.

Paddle with a purpose ๐ค
4 SUPs, 1 kayak, 5 humans, 35 lbs of trash. Shout out to the small but mighty crew for rallying to clean New River on their day off. ๐
โStand up paddleboards are by far my favorite mode of cleaning up. Provides lots of space to pile debris, works all your tiny stabilizer muscles, you can either cruise long distances or coast in a localized for a deep clean, and, Iโm on the water ๐๐.โ
โ .
No matter how you play on or in the water, you can be an environmental steward.

Is that a turtle? Nope, itโs trash. ๐

BAN PLASTIC BAGS โ
Sites like this are common across Uganda. No formal waste management or recycling means that landfills on the side of the road are common!๐
In 2008, one of Ugandaโs neighbouring countries (Rwanda), made plastic bags are illegal!
But unlike the other 40ish countries which have banned, restricted, or taxed plastic bags, Rwanda has gone a step further and made them illegal. This includes with fines, jail time, and even public admittance of this crime! Plastic bag smugglers face up to six months in jail for carrying these environmental nuscenses. As part of this campaign, some shops have even been closed down because of cellophane use or plastic bags, requiring them to make public apologies and contributing to the countries clean up campaign. ๐
Plastic bags are an environmental disaster. When they litter the earth, they cause damage to agricultural practices and water filtration. The nationโs zero tolerance policy toward plastic bags appears to be paying off. Streets in the capital, Kigali, and elsewhere across this densely populated country are virtually spotless. Men and women are regularly seen on the sides of roads sweeping up rubbish, and citizens are required once a month to partake in a giant neighborhood cleaning effort, including the president.๐ฟ
Rwanda is probably Africaโs cleanest nation, and among the most pristine in the world. Though at least 15 African countries have enacted some sort of ban, many still have plastic bags littered on roads, stuck in drain pipes or caught in trees.
Other eastern African countries have decided to follow suit with Kenya introducing similarly strict ban on plastic bags.
Uganda has yet to follow suit, however there are big pushes from the youth to - keep your eyes peeled on this environmental campaign!๐

The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it. ๐โป๏ธ
We can ALL be a part of the solution! It's the small actions of lots of people that set an example and make a change. It may look different for everyone, but we each have the power to inspire others and change the world. ๐ค
