The final stage of consultation on our Local Plan is now open.

We want to hear your views on the draft Local Plan and would encourage everyone who wants to have their say to take part in the consultation.

Further information on the Local Plan, including dates for the in-person drop-in events (they're in the graphic below too) and details of how to respond, can be found at https://haveyoursay.northtyneside.gov.uk/hub-page/the-local-plan

The drop-in events are an opportunity for anyone to pop along, chat to a member of our team and ask any questions you may have about the Local Plan.

Following the consultation, all responses will be considered before the Local Plan is submitted to the Government for independent examination.

Please note that to make sure your views are considered as part of the consultation, you need to submit a consultation response rather than just leave your comments below. Thank you.

We hope that those involved in the car crash in Seaton Burn are safe and well, there has been a lot of smashed glass on the pavement.

This has been reported to the out of hours desk of highways for their urgent attention, so we expect that is resolved quickly.

We understand the council has had a problem with direct debit payments today, below is their response.

Direct Debits – Early Collection
Due to a system error, some Direct Debit payments due to be collected on Monday 1 June have been taken earlier than expected on Friday 29 May.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and are working closely with our banking provider to understand what has happened.
What this means
· Payments may have left your accounts earlier than expected
· We have been unable to stop or reverse these payments
· We recognise this may cause difficulties for some customers and support is available
Help and support
We are sorry this has happened, but we have help in place. Please contact us on 0345 2000104 to talk to someone
