Last night we had a great evening playing a mixture of traditional Scottish music for a burns night mess dinner. Here’s a clip of us playing something you’ll likely recognise! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👣🥃

This week Sgt Sam Wright has been in Lillehammer, Norway, training and competing as part of the Royal Engineers Luge team. We’re very proud to report Sam took an impressive third place in the Army inter-corps luge competition. She managed to exceed 100kmph on the ice, which sounds very scary! Particularly as Sam took some injuries on this track last year so amazing resilience to come back even faster this year and make the podium! 💪
Luge is quite different from Sam’s normal army reserve role as 1st clarinet and music librarian, and highlights the many opportunities available across the Army. Well done Sam! 👏

Tomorrow is an exciting day as we will be on parade at the Cenotaph on Whitehall, London. We will be supporting parades for the Royal Tank Regiment and also the Metropolitan Police cadets. Here’s a clip of us rehearsing the music and manoeuvres!

At our last rehearsal it was a very proud moment for two of our number who received their first promotions to Lance Corporal. Well done to LCpls Gates and Storry!

In addition to the enjoyment of making music together, the Army reserve can provide a second career. This includes the chance to take on additional responsibilities, learn new skills and also includes leadership training to the same level as regular soldiers upon each promotion.

The band in front of a sunny Rochester castle this morning. Rochester castle and cathedral were designed in 1087 by Bishop Gundulf, who is regarded as the first Royal Engineer.

A beautiful day marching through Ripon with 21 Engineer Regiment who exercised their freedom of the city as part of VE Day 80 commemorations.

Some photos from the concert for peace last weekend at the Nottingham Victoria Embankment, commemorating 80 years since VE Day. We performed alongside two excellent groups, the Nottingham Military Wives Choir and Nottingham Ukrainian Ensemble and all came together for a last night of the proms style finale 🇬🇧.

We had a great afternoon despite the somewhat chilly weather! However we are looking forward to a warmer day tomorrow when we will be in Ripon for the 21 Engineer Freedom parade.

Today we held our open rehearsal and were thrilled to welcome 19 musicians to our band room to learn about life in an Army Reserve Band. As you can hear we all enjoyed the opportunity to make music together with so many talented musicians in one place!

A date for your diaries! We are really looking forward to this event and are rehearsing hard with a great selection of music you’re sure to enjoy. We would love to see you there!
