Our next work party is on Sunday - if you can join us, it's really appreciated! 🙂🙏

We've noticed that some of the wild flowers on The Green Line have been uprooted recently, specifically, some of the Ragwort. Whoever did this may have been well meaning, but we hope that they might see the poster below and be assured that there isn't any livestock nearby which would try to eat these plants and that they might appreciate the value that these wild flowers are contributing to the biodiversity of the The Green Line, which is a Nottinghamshire County Council Local Wildlife Site (LWS).
Also included here are some photos of the plant and some of the insects it supports taken last week at Rushcliffe Country Park in Ruddington, where you can find far more of this and other wild flowers and insects than The Green Line can host.

The morning after the night's snow...

03/12/2023

Good morning!
Unfortunately, we've had to cancel this morning's work party due to the snow on the site and the roads.
The next work party is Sunday 7th January!

Great to see that after today's entire day of rain, the forecast for tomorrow morning's work party is dry and sunny for the whole day!

All welcome, whether you've been before or you're a first timer. Come and enjoy a light workout surrounded by fresh air and nature while helping to keep The Green Line a great local amenity for people and wildlife.

Starts at 10am at the Whitcliffe Gardens entrance, finishes by 1pm but feel free to finish earlier if you need to.

In case you haven't seen the posters attached to the entrances onto the line, here are the details for this season's working parties, with the next one this Sunday 5th November!

The birds are alive and ...singing on The Green Line at the moment. Seen this evening near Wenlock Drive, a colourful Jay, and heard in the same tree at the same time, near to where the stream crosses under the line, both a Chiffchaff and a Willow Warbler!

Many thanks to the team from NHS Supply Chain who volunteered to paint the bridge in the flurries of snow on Thursday!
If you'd like to get involved in helping to look after The Green Line, just send us a message here or by email!

Thanks to the volunteers turning up today for the last work party of the winter! It was a good turn out and the path was successfully widened where vegetation had narrowed it excessively, south of the Devonshire Rd bridge.
Also, not before seen on the line by any of the regulars, a group of Siskins near to the Whitcliffe Gardens entrance. You can get surprisingly close to them and they are very vocal with their singing!
