Fostering Families is a not-for-profit social enterprise.

We are an innovative and ambitious Fostering Agency with a focus on early intervention and exist to make a positive difference in the lives of the children and young people we support; we achieve this by high quality care standards and by supporting those that go the extra mile to care for those that would otherwise be at risk.

We are a therapeutic organisation and believe that children and carers’ lives are enriched through a therapeutic approach to foster care. Our core and underpinning ethos is based on a therapeutic parenting model that combines mental health services with holistic well-being.

It is our firm belief and vision that together we can enable those in the public care system, to find a loving ‘forever family’ and a stable home with which they can develop, thrive and belong.

A National Crisis!

On 31 March 2019, there were 44,450 fostering households, a 2% increase compared with 31 March 2018. In the same period, there has been a 3% increase in the number of children in foster care. There were almost 55,000 children and young people placed with foster carers on 31 March 2019.Year on year there is a national shortage of around 8,000 suitable foster carers to meet the national need.
