An evening of ghastly ghost stories, petrifying poetry and spine-tingling songs at The People's Hall, Nottingham.

Read by the Dead brings some of the greatest horror authors back from beyond the grave to share their haunting stories once more.

On Thursday the 29th of October, the People's Hall will host:

• M. R James reading one of his most famous ghost stories;

• Mary Shelley retelling a haunting tale of transformation;

• Edgar Allan Poe performing some of his most haunting poems.

The perfect evening for fans of the spooky season. We hope to see you there.

This event will raise money for the Nottingham Historic Building Trust, with proceeds from your ticket going toward restoring The People's Hall.

Doors open at 7:00pm. The performances run from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm, with a short interval.

Investigating a 1755 Georgian Townhouse originally known as Howe House for powerful military figures such as George/William/Richard Howe. Remodelled in 1775 for wealthy silk merchant and fierce royalist William Stanford. Was also a strict girls boarding school for Mrs Treffry in the mid 1800s.

Come and investigate the oldest inn in Chesterfield, an old rest-house for the knights templur and former butchers shop which involved a brutal murder of George Collis who was murdered by his business partner Jack Platts who chopped his body up into a sack and dumped nearby.

A mix of new and old styles of investigating using the latest tech and allowing free time to investigate at the end.

This is a very rare location to investigate and only done on a handful of occasions, reports of paranormal activity have been reported here including a cat spirit that roams the location.
