📣➡ Have your say!

A consultation is open where you can share your views on plans to improve walking and cycling access to the Sandgate area of town centre and improve safety for all road users at the double mini-roundabout junction at the top of Sandgate/bottom of Fell Lane.

Proposed changes look to enhance safety, particularly for for pedestrians, by widening pavements, improving crossings, introducing landscaping and benches and changing the junction layout to remove the complicated double roundabout.

A consultation on the initial designs runs until 13 November, 2026.

Find more information and complete the consultation survey at:

Paper copies of the survey and more information will also be available from Penrith Library for the full duration of the public consultation period.

Penrith Town Council is inviting residents to join the town’s Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day commemorations this November, bringing the community together to honour those who have served and remember those who have lost their lives in conflict.

On Sunday 8 November 2026, the Remembrance Sunday Parade will leave Portland Place at 2pm, proceeding along Middlegate to St Andrew’s Church, accompanied by Penrith Town Band. Members of the public are warmly invited to attend to watch the parade and the Service of Remembrance at the church.

The parade will bring together representatives of the Armed Forces, veterans’ organisations, cadet forces, Town Councillors and local community groups in a shared act of remembrance.

On Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November 2026, residents are invited to gather at St Andrew’s Church from 10.50am for a short act of remembrance organised by the Church. The event will include the national two minutes’ silence at 11am and the dedication of the Garden of Remembrance, with a bugler in attendance. All are welcome to join this opportunity for quiet reflection.

Members of the public are welcome to attend both commemorations.

What a team Dan, Joanna and Ben.

6 weeks ago we heard of Winter Droving leaving Penrith. Did we ‘follow the herd’ to Carlisle- did we not. We wanted our own, new adventure.

Penrith BID led the new journey, creating The Gathering with amazing creative and local thinkers.

These 3 persons pictured are responsible for putting an event together in 6 weeks at a fraction of the cost of another, culminating in yesterday’s event. I, as BID chairman applaud you. You all have worked tirelessly, virtually even 24 hours these last few days. A move of an event couldn’t stop us, the weather couldn’t stop us. You deserve the recognition. Everyone should thank you, I do.

My thanks go out to all other businesses, stakeholders, artists and of course our volunteers who gave up their time for free to ensure everyone had a safe and great day.

And lastly a huge thanks to everyone who came and supported us. Penrith showed up in the worst weather possible but we showed up. We are resilient and we know what community is.

Thank you everyone. Foundations have been laid and here’s to what ever happens next year.

We are aware of the bad weather situation.

Taking this into account we have moved all of our outside activities indoors. The Mansion House stage is in a sheltered area we are regularly monitoring the wind speed for the area and have a thorough safety plan in place for if we need to cancel the area.

Currently our main areas of activity are between:

St Andrews parish rooms replacing the band stand. With live music, puppet show performances, face painting, the start of the Pumpkin trail and table top sale down stairs.

St Andrews Church Craft Fair

Penrith Library downstairs room

The Mansion House Stage

Potfest in the pens (pop on the free bus service running every hour from the bus station)

Penrith Players as the after party venue from 8pm
