On our last day of Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds week we've had another action packed day as we developed our hockey skillls in the morning and had a disco in the afternoon planned for by our dedicated P7s. Lots of fun was had by all.

Here at Burnhaven we love nothing more than curling up with a good book so we were excited to have a visit from Fiona a librarian at Peterhead Library to tell us all about the summer reading challenge. We all hope to take part. Our librarians were proud to show her our new library.

This week as part of our Healthy bodies, Healthy minds week, we have been completing a special mission. We all thought about the people who are important to us and choose one family member to write a gratitude letter to. We even made the adults emotional with our caring words.

Yesterday afternoon we had lots of fun developing our football skills. Our talented football player Hayley volunteered to lead some drills for us all. She was very confident as our coach leading the learning. We even had time for some short 3v3 games.

Today we had a visit from Catherine who taught us some basic First Aid skills this morning. We learnt about what to do when we find a casualty and how to get help. We learnt how to put someone in to the recovery position. We also looked at allergies, head injuries and burns. It was a very informative session and we would like to thank Catherine for her time today.

Yesterday we were developing our tennis skills in our PE lessons. We were looking at the forehand and backhand. Our older pupils also looked at serving. In the afternoon we looked at the lead up to the Men's World Cup. We were taught all about it by our passionate P7 pupil, Hayley. We looked at some of the countries that had qualified and helped create a display about the different teams.

💙 Sports Day 2026 💙
What a beautiful day to have sports day! ☀️ We all had lots of fun and laughter taking part in our races and potted sports. All house points will be calculated and the winning house revealed at the Leavers Assembly. Good luck to both teams! 🤞🏻

This morning we started our Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds Week with a visit from our community police. Our younger pupils focused on learning how to stay safe in our community. Our older pupils learned about the importance of online safety, drugs and alcohol. We got to test the special drunk glasses which made us feel dizzy and we struggled to walk in a straight line.

Today Diane form Active Schools came to help us launch our Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds Week. We were developing our athletic skills focusing on running and jumping. We even had a long jump competition with Hayley being our winner with a jump of 2 metres 45 centimetres.
