Budget 🇬🇧 Why I Support Robert Jenrick’s Economic Rescue Plan
Britain is not short of talent, ambition or opportunity. But our economy is being held back by high taxes, expensive energy, excessive regulation and a planning system that too often prevents investment rather than enabling it.
🩵 That is why I support Robert Jenrick’s Economic Rescue Plan.
As Shadow Cabinet Member for Finance and Economic Development on Bassetlaw District Council, I see the pressures facing local employers, market traders, manufacturers and small businesses. They need lower costs, fewer barriers, less regulation and a government prepared to back enterprise.
Robert’s 64-point plan offers a clear pro-growth direction: cut employers’ National Insurance, unlock British energy, accelerate nuclear power, support AI and industry, release finance for the real economy and reduce unnecessary bureaucracy.
It would also encourage housing on brownfield land, speed up critical infrastructure and make it easier for businesses to trade, invest and employ British workers. 🇬🇧

Across the Trent Valley, this means the potential for better-paid jobs, stronger town centres, renewed industrial growth and greater energy security—without sacrificing vast areas of productive farmland to poorly planned development.
🤔 Britain cannot tax and regulate its way back to prosperity. We must once again reward those who work, build, invest and create employment.
Robert Jenrick’s plan is an ambitious and serious starting point for getting Britain growing again—and it has my full support.
