We’re supporting you with your energy bills this winter.

Labour is cutting VAT on electricity, bringing in £100 energy payments, reforming standing charges and working to unlink electricity prices from gas and investing in homegrown energy.

Meanwhile, Trump's mishandling of the Strait of Hormuz crisis has only made energy prices worse. Plenty more to do, but Labour is taking action

Decisions made in Maidstone about Thanet have not worked for years. Look at our problems with education, SEND support, adult social care, bus funding, cuts to youth services, and less funding for community groups. Our local business support and economy are also suffering.

Thanet District Council only gets 11% of the council tax money.

Having a local council just for East Kent would be a massive improvement. It would be much more accountable and would actually look after local residents, businesses, and communities. Devolving more decisions to local councils gives more power to local people.

Ramsgate needs investment and that includes looking after the infrastructure we rely on.

Reform East Thanet has described Ramsgate Tunnel as “surplus to requirements”. We disagree. It keeps heavy traffic away from the bottom of Harbour Street, and closing it would raise serious questions about congestion and safety.

Labour councillors for Ramsgate want to see the tunnel protected and maintained. Ramsgate deserves investment and a clear plan for its future.

🌹 Congratulations to Sagal Abdi-Wali, Labour’s new MP for Holborn and St Pancras!

Labour defeated Green Party leader Zack Polanski, with the Greens conceding defeat in the early hours of this morning.

Labour secured 45% of the vote compared with the Greens’ 33% a 12-point lead, despite the Greens fielding their party leader.

The result has also raised questions about Polanski’s future as leader of the Green Party in England and Wales.

When asked whether Polanski should stand down, former Green Party leader Caroline Lucas commented:

“I think let’s just see what happens in the coming days and weeks.”

A strong result for Labour, and congratulations to everyone who worked hard on the campaign. 🌹
