EQUALITY MEANS EVERYONE COUNTS.

St Helens Labour has responded to the Reform administration’s decision not to observe Black History Month.

Labour Group Leader Cllr Keith Laird says the decision raises serious questions about equality, inclusion and the council’s own published commitments.

Black History Month is not about one group mattering more than another.

It is about recognising the history, achievements and contribution of Black people to Britain and our communities.

Black history is British history. Equality means everyone counts.

🚌 A new era for buses in St Helens!

The new yellow buses are now out on our streets — marking a major step forward as bus services return to public control.

This is something St Helens Labour has campaigned for over many years. It’s now becoming a reality thanks to years of lobbying and campaigning, the leadership of Labour Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram, and the support of a Labour Government and our MPs David Baines MP and Marie Rimmer MP

As Cllr Keith Laird says:

“For years, St Helens Labour has been campaigning for our buses to work for the people who rely on them every single day.”

Public control means we can work towards a bus network that puts passengers first — with better reliability, better connections, affordable fares and services that work for our communities.

This is a big change, and we’re proud that St Helens is leading the way. 🌹
