Reform UK now has its own newspaper, “free for patriots”. Farage says Reform needs it because the media keeps distorting its message. OK, Nigel… 🤣
But what truths does this high quality piece of journalism contain? We’ve fact-checked the many “truths” it feels it needs to tell you, so you’re ready for any family members who mistake it for the New York Times. 😉
Farage’s landslide win: “Farage 22,239, Establishment 0”
No major party stood, turnout was 44%, and Count Binface came second. He called the by-election himself, mid donations investigation. 🗑️
They lead the polls “Reform 25%, Labour 24%”
A week later, the same pollster had Labour 27%, Reform 22%. They’re now on 20%. They printed their best week. 📊
“£486 back for 40 million workers”
Earn under £12,570 and you get nothing. It costs up to £21bn a year, with £52bn of the funding coming from welfare cuts. 💷
“£250 off energy bills”
In September, Reform’s own figure was £150. Critics say six million low income families could lose winter bill support. ⚡
Reform would “Send in the Navy” to stop the boats
The Navy led on small boats in 2022 and crossings didn’t fall. France calls the plan illegal. 🚢
“200,000 illegal immigrants”
Most decided small boat asylum claims since 2018 were granted. Britain’s own system found them to be refugees. 🧾
“Lowest council tax rises”
Partly true. But no Reform council cut council tax, despite promises, and you paid in services instead. Lancashire planned to close five care homes until a protest forced a U-turn. Nottinghamshire made the biggest cuts in its history. Durham cut litter picking and neighbourhood wardens. 🏛️
“Pothole backlog cleared”
Derbyshire brought it back to typical levels. Funded by extra money from the Labour government, not a miracle. 🕳️
One bit was true…
Their legal challenge did stop the government delaying 30 council elections. ✅
