Road has now reopened. Great response from services this morning limiting disruption and treating our trees with care. Thank goodness we didn't lose the whole tree this time and no one was hurt.

Area is now taped off and we are awaiting contractors to support. The swimming pool area is now only accessible on foot through the green area next to golf course or via footpaths next to the old Blackburn Lodge site. Please avoid the area to keep the road clear for access if you can.

We have a tree issue this morning probably due to the weather. Pls avoid the access road to the swimming pool if you can. This has been reported and thank you to the residents who let me know this morning.

Update - Kent fire and rescue have been called. The substantial branch could fall further. Please avoid the area to allow full access.

Tomorrow sees the opening of the Rememberance Garden at Trinity Church. Julie and her team do an amazing job and wanted me to let everyone know you can attend and support from around 10.15, with the service starting at around 11. The church will be open for light refreshments for a donation.

This is a 1990s view of Trinity Church, still very much the same. See you there.

If you feel you may struggle during a power outage or someone you may know may struggle please take a look at the priority services register. You can find details on UK power networks website if you type into Google UK power networks priority services register. Takes about 10 mins to check if you are eligible and sign up online. They can offer support.

Usually I would add the link to make it easier but Facebook are not letting that happen at the moment. If you need extra help pls let me know.

You can also call for free to sign up on this number.

I attended the Ask The Experts event yesterday at Sheerness East to upgrade my information on elements of social care for the organisations that are there to support residents focus on dementia. These issues are sometimes very difficult for people to deal with and people have a lot of issues engaging with KCC who are responsible for social care at the moment. I'm pleased that the national position is changing for social care for carers, service users but mostly for people who fall outside the system for some reason.

This is a great first stop for social care support and will share all useful information that I can find. If you need more support just like many people who I have already helped pls get in touch. I can't promise that I know all the answers but you don't have to do everything on your own whatever part of the journey you or your family are on.

Coming up this week in Halfway. This may be something affecting older people that may not be on social media so if you can pls tell them and bring them along. From personal experience facing the early stages of dementia is better with support and what comes later needs more along with a massive amount of practical issues too. We have thousands of home carers going through all sorts of things in Swale and none of it is easy.

Thank to the resident that alerted me to the other local police force work experience. This one means traveling to London but if you want to work for British Transport Police then it's not a bad thing to get used to. Again some of BTPs best officers come from Sheppey and our kids could join them.

At British Transport Police (BTP), we’re passionate about building a police force that truly reflects and serves our communities. Our Work Experience Programme is a unique opportunity for young people to step into the world of policing and explore the wide variety of roles that help keep Britain.....

Tonight the Economy and Property Committee agreed to retain the old Sheerness library in lew of funding coming forward to put the building back into community use. Retaining these community assets are important especially as this sort of building under renting from the council would allow groups and organisations to use the building that would not have the funding to right the building themselves. Trying to keep community use buildings in deprived communities means that the building could be used to provide services by organisations that perhaps do not have the resources of a larger organisation but could reflect local need maybe for the better. I spoke for this a year ago and I spoke for this tonight along with further support needed for the area around the water tower. This work was prompted by a number of local organisations that wanted to work within the ward of Sheerness.
