📚❤️ And so, my November reading challenge begins!

The first book I'm reading for the Read Every Day in November Challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK is "Things Bad Begun" by Emily Fairfax.

It's also our November Book Club read, so I've got an extra special reason to get stuck in!

Even more exciting, Emily Fairfax will be joining us in person on Monday 2 November at W**e & Words by Watson for an evening of books, chat and the chance to meet the author herself. 🥰

There are still a couple of places available if you'd like to join us and there's another copy of her book in the library too. It would be lovely to see you!

Happy Friday, book lovers! It’s time for today’s book stack, and we’ve got plenty of crime, mystery and suspense to get stuck into!

📖 The Girls Who Disappeared – Claire Douglas ⭐ BOOK OF THE DAY Twenty years ago, four girls were involved in a car crash. Only one was found. The other three vanished without a trace. Now a journalist arrives to investigate, but the locals aren’t keen on her digging into the past. What really happened that night?

A wonderfully twisty psychological thriller full of secrets, suspicion and unexpected turns. This is one of the most popular books in our library, and it’s easy to see why!

🔎 Dead Man’s Footsteps – Peter James

On the morning of 9/11, a businessman sees an opportunity to disappear and start a new life. Six years later, the discovery of a woman’s remains brings Detective Roy Grace into a complex investigation that stretches across the globe.

💛 Deadly Truths – Paul Gitsham

Two young detectives find themselves investigating a series of burglaries while being kept out of a murder investigation. But when the cases begin to overlap, they uncover corruption and secrets reaching much higher than they imagined.

👁️ Don’t Blink – James Patterson

Reporter Nick Daniels is interviewing a notorious celebrity when a shocking murder takes place nearby. He accidentally captures a crucial clue, but as he starts investigating, he discovers that someone is watching him and will do anything to keep the truth hidden.

🎂 Birthdays for the Dead – Stuart MacBride

Detective Ash Henderson is hunting a serial killer known as the Birthday Boy, who abducts young girls and sends their families horrifying birthday cards. But Ash has a devastating secret of his own: his daughter disappeared five years ago, and he suspects she was one of the killer’s victims.

I love receiving your feedback, but when someone tells me that a particular book inspired their love of reading, it really does make my day! 🥰📚

This lovely comment was left on our TikTok post about Murder Most Unladylike by Robin Stevens, and I thought it was too lovely not to share.

"This series helped to start my love of reading! I still have all of them." I love it! ❤️

It got me thinking… what book first sparked your love of reading? Was it a childhood favourite, a school book or something you picked up later in life?

I'd love to hear your stories! 👇
