šØ URGENT: Major Road Disruption Starting Monday - Kingsway/Gatley Road Junction šØ
I need to make you aware of significant disruption coming to one of our busiest junctions from Monday 3rd November (8pm onwards).
Cadent has identified a gas leak beneath the Kingsway (A34)/Gatley Road (A560) junction in Cheadle - right under the pedestrian island. While the situation is currently under control with temporary safety measures in place, urgent repairs must begin on Monday to prevent any deterioration.
What this means for you:
ā M60 Junction 3 southbound entry - CLOSED
Drivers will need to use Junction 4 and follow diversions through Cheadle village
ā Two lanes closed on southbound A34 at the junction
Only one lane open - straight ahead or left turn only (no right turns)
ā Northbound slip road onto M60 westbound - DIVERTED
ā A560 Gatley Road traffic - left turns only at the junction
ā ļø Expect serious congestion, especially at peak times as three lanes merge into one
Engineers will be working 24/7 to get this sorted as quickly as possible, but they won't know the full extent until excavation begins.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR ROUTE BEFORE SETTING OFF and allow plenty of extra time for journeys.
Your gas supply is NOT affected - but if you smell gas at any time, call the National Gas Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111 999. Don't assume it's related to this work.
I'm in close contact with Stockport Council and TfGM about this situation and will keep you updated as work progresses. I know this will cause major inconvenience, but safety has to come first. Please share widely.

š£ Important Meeting About the Future of Cheadle High Street š£
Following the recent community consultations, there's a crucial open meeting on Thursday 16th October at 7:30pm at The Upper Room, Back Massie Street, and I'd strongly encourage everyone to attend.
This meeting is about the future of Cheadle High Street, and it's vital that we turn out in numbers to have our voices heard.
At the meeting they'll be:
š Sharing findings from all the consultations
š Proposing key areas for improvement
š Seeking our commitment and ideas to move forward
Whether your concerns are about parking, supporting independent retailers, improving the physical environment, or enhancing accessibility - this is the forum where your input will make a difference.
Our high street has faced challenges for some time, and this represents a real opportunity to be part of the solution. We need to demonstrate that our community is engaged and committed to making positive change happen.
I'd urge you to attend if possible. Encourage your neighbours to come along, and let's show strong community support for the future of Cheadle.
To RSVP, please email [email protected]
I hope to see many of you there.
