A historic building in Longton is set to get a new lease of life thanks to £53,633 of Pride in Place funding.

Wild Edge Arts will transform the former Barclays Bank on The Strand – vacant since 2021 - into a permanent home for its cultural and creative programmes.

Wild Edge Arts said: “The impact of this new community space for Longton will reach far beyond its walls, supporting delivery of high impact community projects like the Longton Carnival
and Pig Walk Parade, Longton Town Forum, our thriving youth programme, and our December Winter Odyssey in Queen’s Park.”

It’s one of dozens of projects announced through the £1.5 million Pride in Place Impact Fund – nominated by members of the public - which is helping deliver improvements to community spaces, parks, high streets and public places across the city.

Come and join us for Pints & Ponytails for a relaxed, fun session designed to help dads build confidence doing their daughters’ hair! 👨‍👧💕

📣 LONGTON BUSINESSES — LET'S GET CONNECTED!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had a number of independent businesses tell me they’d love to have a better way of communicating with each other and keeping up to date with what’s happening in and around Longton.

So… I’m thinking of setting up a Longton Business WhatsApp Group! 📱

⚠️ 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦/𝗢𝗥𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗘 𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗗 𝗜𝗡 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗢𝗡

The idea is simple — a place for local organisations to share and find out about things such as:

📅 Upcoming events & activities
📣 Local business news and updates
🤝 Opportunities to collaborate
🏪 Things happening in the town centre
💡 Useful information and opportunities
❤️ Ways we can support and shout about each other

This isn't intended to be another place for endless spam, sales pitches or negativity 😂 — it’s about communication, connection and keeping Longton’s business and community organisations in the loop.

👇 WHO IS IT FOR?

The group is purely for people involved in organisations based in Longton, including:

🏪 Independent businesses
🏢 Other local businesses
🤝 CICs & community organisations
👥 Community groups
⛪ Faith groups
🎭 Local organisations & initiatives

Not based in Longton? This one isn't for you — sorry! 😜

📱 DON’T FANCY WHATSAPP?

No problem! There is also a Longton Business Network Facebook Group where you can join the conversation and keep up with what's happening.

👉 If you're a Longton-based business or organisation and would like to join the WhatsApp group, send me a message and I'll add you.

And if you think this is something your fellow Longton businesses would find useful, tag them below or share this post! ❤️

The more of us who are connected, the easier it is to keep Longton informed, supported and working together. 🙌
