The Nailsworth Clock Tower is turning 75!

Join us on Friday 18 September as we celebrate 75 years of one of Nailsworth’s best-known landmarks with a variety of free events happening throughout the day.

A community celebration in the Clock Tower Garden starts the day followed by a historic walking tour, and an evening event at Nailsworth Town Hall featuring a special film screening of "Nailsworth Through Time" by Pip Heywood, a presentation about Nailsworth’s clockmakers and a chance to raise a glass to 75 years of the Clock Tower. Some events are ticketed but all events are free. See the programme for further details.

Height restriction barriers installed at KGV

Following in the footsteps of other car parks across the Stroud area, NTC have installed height restriction barriers at King George V Playing Fields to help manage access to the site and prevent unsuitable vehicles from entering.

Alongside the barriers, signage has been displayed to reiterate that overnight vehicles and long-term parking are not permitted at KGV.

The barriers and signage will help us manage access and ensure the car park remains available and accessible for everyone. We are grateful for your understanding and support as we introduce these measures.

If you happen to notice any issues at KGV, please report them to us directly so we can address them promptly.

Crowds gathered as we hosted a successful day of traditional celebration and environmental action on Saturday, January 17th, combining a festive Wassail with community tree planting activities that brought around 200 people and an Alpaca together for a joyful afternoon.

The community event, delivered through a collaborative partnership between Nailsworth Town Council and Stroud Valleys Project, offered residents of all ages the opportunity to engage with local traditions while contributing directly to Nailsworth’s environmental future.

Environmental efforts took centre stage at the King George V playing field, where the Stroud Valleys Project team facilitated the planting of 28 new trees. This initiative forms part of the Town Council’s ambitious five-year tree planting plan.

The festive spirit continued into the afternoon with a traditional Wassail celebration. Attendees enjoyed vibrant performances and sing-alongs by the Stroud Folk Choir, traditional tree blessings, and toast gifting led by Wassail Butler, Simon. The event also featured free children’s crafts and refreshments, ensuring an inclusive celebration for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who came along.
