This year on National Manufacturing Day, our Vice Chair Will Bridgman opened the doors at Warren Services to show Thetford's young people the brilliant careers waiting for them right here in town.

After visiting several of Thetford's manufacturers, the pupils were especially excited to hear about our campus project and the prospect of going to college in their own town before starting their future careers in manufacturing. They were also quite excited by the forThetford goodie bags!

Thank you to Breckland Council for leading the day, and to every manufacturer welcoming local pupils onto their shop floors. forThetford is proud to stand alongside them, investing in our town's economy, its skills and the next generation who will shape its future.

Twenty years of Thetford Open Gardens, and what a way to mark it.

Jo Pearson, Chair of the Thetford Neighbourhood Board and High Sheriff of Norfolk, opened the Tunes for Twenty concert with a tribute to the residents who have spent two decades throwing open their gates and sharing their gardens with the town.

As Jo put it, it takes generosity, patience and a particular kind of civic pride. Thetford has all three in abundance.

Congratulations to everyone who has made Thetford Open Gardens what it is. forThetford is proud to support it.

One grant, then another wave of support

A Community Support Fund award from forThetford paid for urgent asbestos removal at Thetford Scout Group's headquarters on Grenville Way. That work was completed over the summer, but it left the affected wall stripped back to a bare stud frame, and the group facing the cost of finishing it before young people returned in September.

Encon & Nevill Long East Anglia, whose branch is on Burrell Way in the town, stepped in and donated the plasterboard, insulation, jointing materials and fixings, delivered straight to the hut on 17 August. Volunteers, including trustee James Feuer, are now fitting it all in time for the new term beginning the week of 7 September.

Thank you to Encon & Nevill Long, and to everyone 'picking up tools'.
