June is Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month (GRTHM), which through celebration, education and awareness-raising, helps to challenge myths, tackle prejudice, and amplify the voices of Gypsies, Roma and Travellers in wider society.

GRTHM celebrates the diverse ways in which Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities have contributed to society, historically and today.

in 2013, London UAF's demo saw No Pasaran for Nick Griffin, as up to 1,000 anti-fascists blocked the N***s' path by Parliament.

There was real unity across communities in London and across the country, as the BNP tried, unsuccessfully, to exploit the horrific murder of Lee Rigby in Woolwich.

The same unity opposed fascists on the day in Sheffield, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Manchester, Leicester, Southampton, Norwich, Bristol, Leeds and elsewhere.

102 years ago, anti-fascist politician Giacomo Matteotti stood up - in the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament - to denounce the violence, intimidation and irregularities during the elections which had recently taken place.

The Fascist government used the cover of elections and legality to pave the way for a dictatorship, while its street fighting movement prepared the way by smashing all opposition.

After his speech, Matteotti said to his colleagues 'And now you can prepare my funeral oration.'

Following this, on 10th June, Matteotti was kidnapped and murdered by Fascists. This led to massive public outrage and a crisis for the Fascist regime.

Though Mussolini managed to survive the crisis (by making concessions both to his streetfighters and to establishment figures) and then to consolidate his dictatorship, Matteotti remained an inspiration to Italian anti-Fascists, and the Italian people defeated Fascism in 1945.

Giacomo Matteotti continues to be an inspiration to anti-fascists today.

in 1994, thousands attended the Anti N**i League Carnival in Brockwell Park, London.

The Carnival also celebrated the defeat of the first BNP Councillor, Derek Beackon, who was ousted from his council seat in Tower Hamlets earlier that month.

Remembering the great Morris Beckman of the 43 Group - a good friend of Unite Against Fascism - who died on 24th May 2015.

The EDL founder only needed around 8 per cent of the vote to win an MEP seat - as the BNP did in 2009.
