We are appealing for information relating to an incident of public order in Patchway.

Two men were reported for making threats to a group of people standing on green space beside Norton House at around 4pm on Monday 18 May.

They parked a white Audi estate in a car park on the Parade before approaching the group with weapons, asking for the whereabouts of a man in a threatening manner.

Glass to the front door of Norton House was also smashed during the incident and the offenders then fled the scene in a white Audi in the direction of Conniston Road.

The offenders have been described as men, with the first being described as white, around 5ft 2ins tall, of stocky build, in his late forties, with short grey hair, stubble, who was wearing black clothing and was carrying a hammer and a knife.

The second man is described to be tall, of slim build, around 25-35 years old, who was wearing shorts, a jacket, a blue face mask, and was carrying a black pole.

We are appealing to any witnesses and those with information on the identities of the suspects to contact as on 101 quoting 5226136314 or complete our online appeals form.

We're aware of a post on a Kingswood community page about this and would like to reassure you that we have taken action.

We arrested a man in his thirties after two separate reports of teenage girls being followed by a man in a car in the Kingswood area.

We had a call just after 10.15am on Thursday 28 May reporting that a 13-year-old girl was followed along New Cheltenham Road at about 9.20pm on Wednesday 27 May. The girl described the man as white, with curly dark hair and a beard, driving a black VW Golf.

A woman walking her dog saw the child's distress and waited with her until she was collected by family. She also has contacted officers with information and we'd like to thank her.

There was then a further report that a girl aged 17 was also followed on Wednesday by a similarly described driver in Alma Road and the High Street. She went into a nearby shop to avoid him.

We arrested a man in his thirties on Thursday, on suspicion of using words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He's since been released on police bail while enquiries continue. He has bail conditions including:
• not to contact any person under the age of 18 in a public place without permission of a parent or guardian
• not to go to Southey Park, New Cheltenham Road or Tenniscourt Road.

If you have any information which could help our investigation, please call 101 and give the reference 5226146977.

A man who risked driving the short distance home from a pub he had been drinking in has been sentenced.

The 71-year-old, from Pucklechurch, South Gloucestershire, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle while over the alcohol limit at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 26 May.

He was disqualified from driving for 18 months, fined £1,850 and must pay court costs and a victim surcharge totalling £825.

Officers involved in drink drive patrols followed him in a Land Rover before he was stopped outside his home at around 7pm on 15 April. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and failed a roadside breath test before he was taken into custody.

🎬 Blunt Truth Premiere

Officers from Staple Hill Neighbourhood Police Team were proud to attend the premiere of Blunt Truth — a powerful new 15-minute film they supported in the making.

Delivered in schools across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, the programme helps young people stay safe. The updated film highlights modern pressures like social media and peer influence, encouraging discussion, better decisions and teaching life-saving first aid.

We’re proud to play a part in supporting initiatives like this that help educate and protect young people in our communities. 🚔

We need your help to keep our Cadet unit running!

The South Gloucestershire Volunteer Police Cadets are looking for adult volunteers to join the unit as Volunteer Police Cadet Leaders.

Our cadets (aged 13-17) learn vital life skills, support their community, and gain insight into policing in a fun and safe environment - but we simply can’t run sessions or support them at community events without adult leaders. We are looking for more hands on deck to ensure we can continue giving our cadets the opportunities they deserve.

💡 As a Volunteer Cadet Leader, you’ll:

• Help deliver fun, interactive weekly sessions
• Support cadets at community events and policing activities
• Be a positive role model and make a real difference in young people’s lives

📍 Sessions take place Tuesdays, 7pm-9pm during term-time at Patchway Police Centre

🙌 You don’t need previous policing experience - full training, support, and uniform are provided

👉 If you have a few hours a week and want to give back to your community, we’d love to hear from you.

ℹ️ Find out more and apply: https://orlo.uk/cadetleaders_hJXkW

⏰ Applications close: 8 June (9am)

As part of knife crime awareness week, officers from Kingswood Police Station have been carrying out routine knife sweeps in local open spaces.
These proactive checks are about prevention and reassurance—there is no specific cause for concern, and we’re pleased to confirm that no knives have been found.
Alongside this, officers have also been visiting local schools to speak with young people, answer questions, and provide reassurance about safety in the area.
For anyone who has an unwanted or found bladed item, there is a knife surrender bin located at Kingswood Civic Centre, where items can be safely and anonymously disposed of.
We remain committed to keeping our community safe and working closely with local residents.
