🚨 Notice: Protect Your Land From Fraud
Steps local landowners can take to protect their land from property fraud.
HM Land Registry is encouraging all landowners to check whether their land or property is registered with HM Land Registry. If your land is not registered, you may wish to consider registering it.
Why might land not be registered?
Compulsory registration was extended across England and Wales in 1990. This means that land where ownership or transactions took place before 1990 may not necessarily be registered with HM Land Registry, particularly where there has not subsequently been a transaction that triggered compulsory registration.
Registering your land can provide an official record of ownership and can help protect against certain types of property fraud.
👉 You can find out more about registering land through the official Government website:
Landowners may also wish to consider HM Land Registry's free Property Alert service, which can notify you if certain activity takes place against a registered property.
🔐 Please take a few minutes to check your land registration status. Protecting your land starts with knowing what is recorded.
Landowners should seek appropriate professional advice if they are unsure about the registration status of their land or the steps they need to take.
