or potatoes 🥔or carrots 🥕or tomatoes 🍅 or bananas 🍌 or grapes 🍇or pears 🍐 or apples 🍏! Thanks to Lidl GB Chapelfields Community Association regularly receives donations of fresh fruit and vegetables for anyone in the local community who otherwise might struggle to get to shops that sell them or to afford them 🍐🍏🍌🍇🧅🥔🫑🌶️🥬🌽🥕🍅

🚗 But every Thursday and Friday morning that means a volunteer is needed to collect food from Lidl on James Street and deliver to Chapelfields. We were very happy to help out this morning 🚗♥️🚗

📆 You don't need to commit to every week and you don't need a particularly big car. If you are able to help and be added to their bank of volunteers please get in touch with them direct or let us know and we'll pass your details on 🙏🚗🫶

👀🌱🌳🍂Look at the beautiful refreshed garden at Explore: Acomb Library Learning Centre - we are so sorry to be missing the official opening tomorrow afternoon with our amazing Lord Mayor Margaret Wells (the councillor one with the gold chains, not the elected by the public one) and the friends of Acomb Library. But we were over the moon to get a sneaky peak of the new plaque! ♥️🙏♥️

🫶The garden looks awesome, we're particularly pleased to see the new raised beds paid for with our ward funding contribution to the improvements 💰Thank you to all the volunteers who do so much to support our library 🙏

👀🧘‍♂️🪷🫧Doesn't this look incredible? ♥️ Energise Leisure Centre have received £14,166 Mayoral funding to transform an under‑used community room into a dedicated sensory space for families and community groups, providing a calming, supportive environment.

https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1S32FocSSm/

We know there is a clear need for inclusive, low‑cost environments that support neurodiverse children. York has nearly 23,000 children aged 0–10, with 14.9% identified as having SEND. Quiet, sensory‑friendly spaces will help ensure all children can access activity and sport. The room will be open to all, with low‑cost access and potential private use for disability groups.

👀 Look at all those yellow pins marking the places people value in our area of the city! Wonderful to see the end of phase 1 of the York Civic Trust Acomb & Westfield project. Incredible efforts from Christina (& the wider team!). Really looking forward to seeing what comes next including the blue plaque for Charlotte Richardson ✒️ (see caption for more info!) ♥️

💰And amazing to hear about the community funding being made available to local groups and organisations too (find out more next Monday evening at the drop in event or from the civic trust!) 🌱 but great news potentially for Chapelfields Community Association Foxwood Community Centre Explore: Acomb Library Learning Centre Greater Acomb Community Forum Art of Protest Projects Morrisons and many many more!
