Have you used the online tax calculator to see how the 2026 Tax Reform Package is likely to impact you?
The Policy & Resources Committee has developed this online tool so that you can use your own individual (but completely anonymised) information to get a sense of whether you'd personally be better or worse off under the Committee’s proposed package of measures.
The tax calculator is available at https://gov.gg/taxreform.
While every effort has been made to make the estimates the calculator produces representative, the actual impact on your household would depend on your personal circumstances and how you spend your money. Please note that the calculator is not a formal tax assessment and the model will not work effectively for those islanders with more complex finances (for example if someone is both employed and self-employed).

🎓Heading to university or higher education for the first time this autumn?
Public Health Services are offering a time-limited MenB vaccination programme for undergraduates starting university or higher education this year.
Living in halls and meeting lots of new people for the first time can increase the risk of catching and spreading the bacteria that can cause meningitis and sepsis, and the vaccine will help reduce the risk of contracting Meningitis B. Two doses are required for full protection.
The programme is aimed at students commencing an undergraduate course for the first time this year, however some other individuals may be eligible. Visit gov.gg/childvaccines for the full eligibility criteria.
To book an appointment, please phone 01481 222011 or email [email protected].
For more information, and to find out what times are available for appointments, visit gov.gg/menb-vaccine-student-programme-2026

Site investigations will take place on The Bridge in early July as an important step in making sure the proposed flood defence is designed in the right way, in the right place, and at the best possible value for islanders.
Checking ground conditions, drainage and what lies beneath the road surface before construction starts is vital to reduce the risk of issues emerging later, when they would be more expensive and disruptive to deal with.
The defence is fundamental to support housing, investment and regeneration around The Bridge, while helping to protect existing homes and businesses from future flood risk.
🛠 When and where the work is happening:
🔹 Thursday 2nd - Friday 3rd July: Workers will be carrying out a ground penetrating radar survey of the area from Thursday 2nd to Friday 3rd July. Stop/go signs will be used to manage traffic when workers need to enter the road.
🔹 Monday 6th to Friday 10th July: Bore holes and trial holes will need to be dug which will mean that some parking will be suspended and pavements will be closed for limited periods of time.
While there isn’t expected to be a need for significant traffic management measures, there may be delays during peak times.

The Policy & Resources Committee has published an online calculator – at gov.gg/taxreform - designed to help you understand how the 2026 Tax Reform Package is likely to impact you.
This means everyone can now get a sense on whether they personally would be better or worse off under the Committee’s proposed package of measures.
The Committee has developed this online tool so that islanders can use their own individual (but completely anonymised) information, and it will provide a readout explaining the potential impact based on the information supplied.

We know that many islanders are used to managing hot weather, however there are vulnerable members of our community who may be taken by surprise by quite how hot it is or require extra support in this weather. If you have someone in your life who may find this hot spell difficult – a loved one or neighbour perhaps – then it’s always worth just quickly checking on them as temperatures over the next couple of days are going to reach extreme levels for this time of year.
The general public health advice remains:
👥 Check in on people who may be at risk.
🚰 Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated – water is best.
☀ Regularly apply sun cream when outside, cover up with cool clothing and a hat.
🌡 Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke, which include heavy sweating, elevated body temperature, dizziness, fainting and nausea.
🏠 Keep your home cool by allowing air inside, and closing curtains or blinds on windows that face the sun.
⛹️♀️ Plan physical activity for the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or later in the evening.
Also, please help your pets to stay cool and keep them out of the heat wherever possible (particularly when walking dogs).
The hot weather is nothing to be alarmed about, but it can start to pose health risks if you don't stay hydrated.

Following a targeted consultation with local organisations from the retail, hospitality, construction, care and finance sectors, as well as employee representatives such as trade unions and third-sector organisations, the Committee for Employment & Social Security plans to increase minimum wage rates by 4% from 1 October 2026.
Subject to approval by the States, the rates will be:
📈 £13.10 per hour for adults
📈 £11.80 per hour for 16- and 17-year-olds
These increases are in line with the rate of inflation (RPIX) for the year ending 31st March 2026.
