The Zongo Development Fund (ZoDF) has outlined plans for capacity building and economic development for youth in Zongos in the Central Region and beyond.
At a Ramadan Health Walk in Cape Coast, yesterday, acting Chief Executive Officer of the Fund, Alhaji Halidu Haruna , announced initiatives to establish One-Stop learning centres in major Zongo communities; provide support for Skills Training & SMEs, and promote Economic Development.
He joined thousands of community leaders, chiefs, imams, youth and the general public in a health walk marked by festivities, physical training and health education, through the principal streets of the Central Regional capital.
He thanked the Zongo communities in the region and executives of the Cape Coast Muslims' Association for organising the three-day programme aimed at enhancing unity,social cohesion, healthy lifestyles and development.
The CEO of ZoDF observed the finals of the Inter-tribal football gala, engaged with the Cape Coast Zongo community and participated in the Health Walk, which climaxed the Ramadan and Eid al Fitr festivities in the Central Region.

The Acting Chief Executive Officer of Zongo Development Fund, Alhaji Halidu Haruna , has presented medals to winners of the 2026 Cape Coast Zongos inter tribal soccer fiesta.
Alhaji Haruna congratulated the Wala Team for emerging winners among the 13 Teams participating in the 2026 competition organised by the Cape Coast Muslims' Association.
Before proceeding with the Central Regional Chief Imam and other dignitaries to the venue for the competition, the ZoDF CEO joined the Muslim community for Jumaa congregational prayers and also engaged with the Chief of Cape Coast Zongo.
The event is part of the annual activities marking the Eid al Fitr celebrations in the Central Region . It is targeted at fostering unity and unearthing sporting talents.

ZoDF CEO HONOURS PLEDGE TO YOUTH HUFFAZ DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
Acting Chief Executive Officer of Zongo Development Fund (ZoDF), Alhaji Halidu Haruna has honoured a pledge to financially support the Youth Huffaz Development Project.
At a brief ceremony held at ZoDF head office, today, Alhaji Halidu presented cash donation to the executives of the project led by Dr. Abdul Aziz Faran.
He commended the executives for the programme to reward memorizers of the Quran held last Saturday at the 37 Military Hospital mosque. He pledged to support initiatives aimed at enhancing the capacity of Quranic memorizers in the pursuit of tertiary education, Skills Training and innovative Information Technology careers.
Dr. Faran thanked the CEO of ZoDF for his "timely support" and participation at the programme.
He also presented a citation of appreciation to Alhaji Halidu.

FLOKEFAMA SUPPORTS ZoDF RAMADAN DISTRIBUTION PROGRAMME
Flokefama has extended financial support to the Zongo Development Fund (ZoDF), as part of the agency's 2026 Ramadan distribution programme.
The support was rendered by the Chief Executive Officer of Flokefama Company ltd, Mr. Emmanuel Teye Kenney at a presentation to ZoDF at its head office, yesterday.
Alhaji Halidu Haruna , acting Chief Executive Officer of ZoDF thanked FLOKEFAMA for its support and hoped that the collaboration between the two institutions would grow from strength to strength.
Throughout the Ramadan period, ZoDF and its partners have distributed food items and street lights to various communities, institutions and the vulnerable in Zongo communities.

ZoDF CEO MARSHALS SUPPORT FOR ZONGO DEVELOPMENT FROM TURKISH COMMUNITY
As part of intensified efforts at interfacing with key stakeholders, acting Chief Executive Officer of ZoDF, Alhaji Halidu Haruna , has interacted with the Turkish Community in Ghana.
At an Iftar (breaking of fast) programme organised by the Turkish Embassy at Maarif International School in Accra, today, the ZoDF CEO engaged Industrialists, Entrepreneurs, in
Diplomats, NGOs, Philanthropists, and Educationists on various areas of support and collaboration for the development of Zongo communities.
He extolled the contributions of the Turkish community to various areas and emphasised the importance of supporting ZoDF as a major initiative by the government to transform Zongo communities through development.
He noted that interventions by stakeholders in addition to statutory funding from the government would accelerate development in the over 4000 Zongos yearning for transformation.
His Excellency Huseyin Gungor, Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, hosted the Iftar programme.

ZoDF CEO ENGAGES WITH NDC ZONGO CAUCUS COORDINATORS
Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Zongo Development Fund(ZoDF), Alhaji Halidu Haruna has held an extensive engagement with NDC Constituency Zongo Caucus Coordinators from the Greater Accra Region.
Alhaji Halidu welcomed the coordinators to the Zongo Development Fund headquarters and assured them of plans to involve them in a roll-out of projects in the region.
He thanked them for their decision to pay a courtesy call on him and expressed "deep appreciation" for the visit.
Several members of the caucus recalled various degrees of support and assistance he has rendered to them over the years and expressed the hope that it would be escalated during his tenure at the ZoDF.
Alhaji Halidu extended Ramadan courtesies to them.
Hajia Rakia Abdulai, deputy CEO(operations), was part of the meeting.

ZoDF STRENGTHENS TIES WITH TURKISH EMBASSY
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of Zongo Development Fund (ZODF), Alhaji Halidu Haruna , has engaged with the Turkish embassy in Ghana on strengthening ties and cooperation.
At a closed-door meeting with His Excellency Huseyin Gungor at the Turkish embassy in Accra, today, Alhaji Haruna pitched the ZoDF and posited the"enormous" potential for transforming Zongo communities through collaboration with the embassy and its partners.
The meeting focused on mutual areas of cooperation, including education,healthcare,water,sanitation and skills development,among others.
The Turkish ambassador affirmed his commitment to closer collaboration with ZoDF.
