We are 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 Basiru, a Yali RLC and Mandela Washington fellow, 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐋 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐈𝐘𝐅) 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 🇺🇸𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐏𝐃𝐄, 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲!

IYF, a global non-profit organization, is dedicated to empowering young people and advancing gender equality worldwide. The PROPEL Youth and Gender, a five-year USAID-funded project, promotes family planning, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health rights through policy, advocacy, and governance.

𝐈𝐧 his 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞, Basiru 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬:

1️⃣ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐋 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐒𝐎𝐬 – leveraging my network to build partnerships with local organizations.

2️⃣ 𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲/𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 – ensuring their effectiveness and cultural relevance.

3️⃣ 𝐖𝐞𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 – sharing insights from the FGM/Gambia media scan.

4️⃣ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭– raising awareness on youth and gender issues through blogs and social media.

5️⃣ 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 – collaborating on webinars to empower youth with leadership skills.

6️⃣ 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 – contributing to discussions with IYF teams globally.

7️⃣ 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 – providing hands-on assistance to diverse initiatives.

We look forward to the incredible impact Basiru will make while growing through this invaluable experience. Here’s to advancing youth empowerment and gender equality in The Gambia and beyond!

Season's Greetings to you and your family! On behalf of the Accra Regional Leadership Centre, we wish you a Merry Christmas! It is our wish that the season brings you joy and peace for all that the year brought. We would also like to thank our alumni, coaches, facilitators, partners, USAID West Africa Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration - GIMPAA and all who have supported us this year!

YALI Alumni Charity Ofosuhene did a thing! We were proud to participate in the Black Tech Lead community of practice event held by Charity, a cohort 15 alum. According to Project Director YALI RLC West Africa Accra "It was a fantastic program I had the privilege of participating in, earlier today. Met the finest, most intelligent, well-spoken, driven and passionate young leaders in the tech space from across Ghana". The event brought together young people in agritech, Edtech, Fintech, Climate tech, and more, including YALI alumni. Congratulations to Charity and all YALI alumni who are making strides!

Kudos YALI RLC Liberia Alumni Chapter for a successful training! This is a perfect example of . Indeed the YALI legacy continues.
