SECOND BATCH OF AIR FORCE SPECIAL TASK
UNIT COMMENCES TRAINING
The second batch of the Special Task Unit (STU) of the Ghana Air Force have commenced six (6) weeks of intensive training at the 69 Airborne Special Forces Unit in Tamale. The training is aimed at equipping personnel with the necessary skills to perform Base protection duties and enhancing the capacity of trainees to effectively counter security threats.
A total of 29 All Ranks from the Air Force Base Accra are participating in the training being conducted by Instructors from the Army Special Operations Brigade. Participants will be taken through lessons and exercises in field craft, map reading, voice procedure, swimming, tactical casualty care drills, weapon handling, VIP protection drills, close-quarter battle drills, and fast roping among others.
The training programme would serve as a comprehensive preparation for the STU to tackle an array of challenging tasks and missions. It would also test individual skills and team-based operations. This would contribute significantly to the ability of the Air Force to respond swiftly and effectively to counter potential threats.
Present at the opening ceremony were, the Officer Commanding the Flying Wing of the Air Force Base Tamale, Group Captain Ayittey, the Commanding Officer of the 69 Airborne Special Forces Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Louis Boakye, the Officer Commanding Administration Wing, Squadron Leader Adjei-Affum among other Officers and personnel.
