A significant highlight during Day 1 of the Ghana-UK Investment Summit 2026 was the signing of a 2-year landmark trade and investment-led bilateral partnership between Ghana and the United Kingdom, aimed at providing one coordinated approach, driving growth in Ghana and opportunity for United Kingdom firms.

The agreement, referred to as the Growth Partnership Project, will sustain and translate Ghana’s recent macroeconomic stabilisation into real-sector growth, jobs, exports, and inclusive prosperity. It will further mobilise private capital for industrial and infrastructure development, expand export market access through improved standards and trade facilitation, and support regulatory reform and policy stability, giving investors greater certainty.

For Ghana, this means more long-term finance, quality jobs, and productive capacity. It also means increased competitiveness and more value-added exports. For the United Kingdom, this means advancing its modern industrial strategy through greater access to large-scale projects, export opportunities, and stronger global value chains; as well as more reliable suppliers, diversified imports, and new markets for British goods and services.

The agreement was signed by their excellencies, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK & ROI, Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, British High Commissioner to Ghana, and Dr. Christian Rogg, both Honorary Patrons of the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce.

“Our ambition is not only to attract capital: we seek genuine partnership across the various sectors of our economy that supports industrialisation, job creation, skills development, technology transfer, infrastructure development and sustainable economic transformation”, Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson remarked prior to the signing.

Pledging the UK Government’s full support, Dr. Rogg stated, “We want to create new opportunities for investors, and we want to accelerate trade between our two countries…The next chapter of the UK-Ghana partnership will be defined by what we will deliver together. By the projects we develop and finance, by the businesses we grow, and by the jobs and prosperity we create in both countries”.

The 2-day Ghana–UK Investment Summit 2026 was hosted by the Ghana High Commission at Raffles London on the theme, “The Reset Agenda: Restoring Investor Confidence to Unlock Opportunities and Shared Prosperity”.

UKGCC’s participation in the Summit reflects the key role we play in promoting trade between Ghana and the UK as the leading private sector organisation that does this in Ghana. Bringing together a distinguished audience of policymakers, investors, and business leaders from both Ghana and the United Kingdom (UK), the summit reaffirmed the strength of the UK-Ghana economic partnership and London’s strategic role in mobilising investment into Ghana’s priority sectors.

The event featured a keynote by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, and remarks by H.E. Sabah Zita Benson — Ghana's High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland, and The Rt Hon.
