During his two-day visit, Ambassador Pietro Lazzeri, Head of the Economic Cooperation and Development at SECO, witnessed the strength of the Swiss–Ghanaian partnership first-hand. He gained insight into high-level discussions on decentralisation and the energy transition. He also exchanged views with implementing partners and beneficiaries in the area of access to finance and the cocoa sector.
A visit to Bioko Treats Ltd, a female-led company supported by SECO, highlighted how partnerships, standards and innovation are boosting local production, exports and job creation in Ghana’s cocoa sector.
SECO’s Cooperation Programme 2025–2028 will continue to support Ghana in addressing development challenges and unlocking opportunities by strengthening local governance, promoting inclusive job creation and safeguarding environmental integrity in order to build a resilient, forward-looking economy.

The Embassy of Switzerland in Ghana was delighted to host an industry–academia cocktail evening bringing together business partners, academia, students, graduates, and Trade & Chamber of Commerce representatives to strengthen collaboration around the Master’s Programme in Mechatronics at Ashesi University.
Supported by Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs and implemented in partnership with ETH Zurich since 2022, the programme is equipping young professionals with practical, industry-relevant skills for Ghana’s growing innovation and manufacturing sectors.
Prof. Angela Owusu-Ansah, Provost of Ashesi University, highlighted the impact of the co-teaching approach between lecturers from Ashesi and ETH Zurich, as well as the dynamic partnership with industry in curating real-life solutions for industry.
The evening provided an excellent platform to connect students and graduates with industry partners, while exploring opportunities for internships, employment, sponsorship, and innovation partnerships.
We thank all participants and partners for contributing to an engaging and successful event, and we look forward to continued collaboration in advancing skills development and technological innovation in Ghana.

Ambassador Simone Giger recently paid a courtesy visit to the Bono East Region — marking the final regional tour of her tenure and completing her journey across all 16 regions of Ghana.
During the visit, she called on the Regional Minister and engaged with government officials and community members, strengthening partnerships and exchanging valuable insights.
In the company of the Trade Minister, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, a proud daughter of the region, she also explored some of Bono East’s remarkable tourist attractions, including the Buabeng Monkey Sanctuary in Nkoranza and the Kintampo Waterfalls.
A fitting and memorable conclusion to a nationwide journey built on partnerships, connection, and lasting impact.

Ambassador Simone Giger recently visited Kumasi at the kind invitation of His Majesty Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II. The visit highlighted the King’s role as a pillar of peace and unity.
A key moment was a luncheon hosted by Lady Julia, where female ambassadors engaged in discussions on advancing the welfare of women and children in Ghana.
The visit was crowned by the vibrant Akwasidae Festival, where chiefs gathered to pay homage to the King in a colorful celebration of culture and tradition.

This week, COCOBOD and the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa (SWISSCO), together with Swiss Ambassador H.E. Simone Giger, concluded their fourth and final Joint Committee Meeting in Accra.
The fourth Joint Committee Meeting highlighted years of strong partnership built on trust, transparency, and open dialogue, with progress on key priorities including the Cocoa Household Income Study (CHIS), Dynamic Agroforestry systems 🌳, Cocoa Swollen Shoot Virus Disease (CSSVD) management through SwissDeCode innovations 🧪,and child labour monitoring systems.
Additionally, COCOBOD’s Chief Executive Dr. Ransford Abbey, together with Swiss Ambassador and their teams, visited KOA Impact, in Achiase in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
The visit provided first-hand insight into innovative cocoa value chain solutions, including the extraction of cocoa pulp for juice production and sustainable cocoa farming through Dynamic Agroforestry 🌱
Discussions focused on strengthening Swiss–Ghanaian collaboration, enhancing transparency, and unlocking new income opportunities for farmers. Innovative approaches like these have strong potential to improve livelihoods across all seven cocoa-growing regions in Ghana. Much appreciation to Dr. Abbey and his team for their commitment and strong interest in creating additional income streams for cocoa farmers 🤝

Swiss businesses explored opportunities in Ghana during a recent webinar hosted by Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE) in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre - GIPC.
The Speakers; including the Swiss Ambassador H.E Simone Giger and GIPA’s Deputy CEO; Mr. Abdul Razak Baba highlighted Ghana’s role as a gateway to West Africa and host of the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat among other opportunities, while a Swiss company Metrohm, which recently established their business in Ghana, shared real success stories on the ground.
