Pre-deployment training for Personnel of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) and Ghana Medical (GHANMED) 4 has ended successfully at the Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS) in Bundase.

The training commenced with Military Leadership Training and Military Skills Validation Training, covering important areas including tactical convoy operations, extraction, weapon handling, range classification and community engagement.

The Commander, Army Training Command (ATRAC), Brigadier General Kwasi Parbey, who was the Guest of Honour, expressed his deepest appreciation on behalf of the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona, to the Commander APOTS, Colonel Dela Klutse and his staff for training and preparing the two units. He urged the troops to remain focused, disciplined and committed to upholding the values of the United Nations.

The Rwandan High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Rosemary Mbabazi paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah at his office on Monday 11 March, 2024.
The purpose of the visit was to congratulate the CDS on his appointment and promotion to the highest office in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

UNMISS GHANBATT 11 COMMEMORATES GHANA AT 67
The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) 11 in collaboration with the Ghana Formed Police Unit (GHANFPU) Rotation 8 have celebrated Ghana’s 67th Independence Anniversary at the Battalion Headquarters in Bentiu.
The ceremony which was held on Wednesday 6 March 2024, under the theme “Our Democracy, Our Pride” brought together representative of the various Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs), Enablers and Civilian Staff of Sector Unity Field Office as well as representatives of the various Humanitarian Agencies.

2 GARRISON COMMEMORATES 67TH INDEPENDENCE DAY ANNIVERSARY
As part of a nationwide celebration, the 2 Garrison in conjunction with the Western Regional Coordinating Council have marked Ghana’s Independence Day Anniversary on Wednesday 06 March, 2024 at Gyandu Park, Sekondi.
Speaking on the theme “Our Democracy Our Pride", the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah (MP) recounted the history of Ghana from the colonial days to the struggle for independence enjoined every Ghanaian to uphold the democratic tenet in all facets of their lives.
